  3. Women are half the population. Yet their voices are too often missing from the news.
  4. A new report commissioned by the foundation examined media coverage in six countries. It found:
  5. - Women were up to six times less likely than men to be quoted in the news as experts or sources.
  6. - Less than 1% of stories discussed gender equality.
  7. Expanding women’s power and influence will benefit everyone. This must include increasing the number of women who are in the news telling stories and shaping perspectives.
