Opal crystalizes in the form of masses, and, occasionally, stalactites. The color range and related names are varied. The previous mystery of the cause of the color of opal has been revealed by electron microscope. When precious opal is viewed through a microscope, it is seen as a uniform stacking and sizing of great number of tiny spheres. These three dimensionally stacked spheres and cavities between them, together, act as a diffraction grating which can divide into spectral colors, the diameter of the spheres within any grouping determining the result of the color. Conversely, opal without color (common opal or potch) contains spheres which are not orderly size or stacking. It’s a crystal what furthers clean, true, and spontaneous action. Enhancing that which one is feeling, and allowing for the release of inhibitions.
