How to get the audio files to transcript?
You get a job at transcription companies...
How do you apply for a job?
Go on a transcription service website ( I will provide some later) and take the test
And the test consists of??
Basic grammar and spellchecking, ToS quiz, Transcription rules quiz, and the hardest part: transcription of one test audio file.
For grammar and spellchecking use Grammarly
For the ToS quiz read through it, and if you don't know something just use CTRL+F
Transcription rules.... READ READ and LEARN *you will need them, or else you won't be able to work and you won't be able to pass the last part of the test
Transcription of the audio: use the rules you learned and try to 100% it without making any mistakes.
Why you shouldn't cheat on the test?
You should be aware that there are plenty of answers on the internet for the tests. Sure you can use them... But for the audio transcription part, DON'T !!! Because you will 100% fail (I tried it...Even paid someone to do it and still failed). And even if you somehow pass, you won't get a dime. WHY? Because all transcripts are rated, and if you do not meet a certain grade/ rating you won't make any money.
WHERE CAN I APPLY ?!
You should aim to apply for more jobs because no one guarantees you will pass
1. QA World - this is the easiest test you can ever take, and if you fail it then you're.... special.... I'm sure you will pass it dw, but this is one of the lowest paying sites + there aren't many offers/calls ( people are quick to take the offers, and there are barely any offers..)
2. GoTranscript - This is a very good service, good pay, and good offers. The audio transcription part is pretty hard, and it took me 4-5 tries ( but just practice and you will do just fine)
3. REV - use a VPN to access it , this is the premium place you should aim to work at, pays well, and has a good system for transcribing
4. Go on youtube and search for Jennifer Marie - she makes videos about transcription websites, tests, how to prepare etc... Very helpful
HOW MUCH MONEY WILL I MAKE?
It all depends on how good you are, and how efficient ( not fast ) you are. They usually pay from 0.2$ to 0.6$ per minute of the audio file.
