  1. First of all, dont bounce tracks. If you have to record drums with several microphones, use mixer and record signal on one track. Of course you cant adjust bassdrums anymore or shit like that, but thats small when comparing that you get better ending result.
  2. Thing that makes four trackers wonderful that one have to keep things simple. Fex;
  3. - One or two microphones is enough to drums
  4. - when its hard to make re-takes on short parts, songs need to be very well rehearsed. One take from start to finish, thats it. Usually when someone tries to fix small things in middle of track, it gets really fucked up and whole track need to be done again.
  5. - One cant put three or four guitars to build up massive guitar wall. So usually its one guitar and (audible!) bass handling other guitars work. Its all about good songs and way of playing. Now none cant hide behind massive wall of sound to make themselves to "sound better"
  6. - That analog compression and distortion are so unique and wonderful, dont hesitate to use them

  15. demagnetizing is controversial. Cleaning heads is something everyone should do. Look at a damn youtube video this isn't a school.
  16. A Tascam 4 track is about a billion times better than a Fostex. Trust me.

  25. Also, it's important to remember to clean the heads before recording every time. Just like you would a 2" tape machine.
  26. Ehhh? Been using my older Fostex over 10 years and havent ever cleaned the heads. In matter of fact, this was first time that I ever though of it and it sounds "quite logical" to clean them once in awhile. Maybe in near future. Think that people who clean recordes heads are those who change their guitar strings. I'm not one of them...
  27. I have Fostex XR3 and Fostex X28 four trackers. Really like working with them.
  28. As far as i can judge from the Förgjord stuff i traded with you, it's exactly the kind of recording tool i am after.
