Maybe changing your laptop's resolution to match your tv's resolution will help.

Did you install the same video drivers as before?

Check this first.
Then go into the display settings and check what the settings are for the second monitor. There's usually options like 'clone' and 'expand desktop' and a little function to help you which monitor is no. 1 and which one is no. 2. If you don't see these functions, you probably didn't correctly install your video drivers.
Btw, when you say you ht F5, I assume you mean the key combination Fn-F5, right?

as far as the drivers go, my laptop has an integrated graphics chip.
so i assume its the right one, but i cant be sure. i just did the factory reset and let the updates to their thing.

Don't ignore the second part of his instructions... In windows you can right click on your desktop and select display preferences... Poke around in there and see if you can enable your second display..

i can, and have. i have chosen clone as my settings, after i choose clone set my tv to pc and nada.
as far as the drivers this computer has an integrated graphics chip if that makes a damn bit of difference.
