  1. Next month will see the long-awaited release of a brand-new 2D Metroid game, and to celebrate, Nintendo is launching a red-and-gold 3DS based on the series’s star. The handheld will be of the New Nintendo 3DS XL variety — not the recently launched New 2DS XL — and will be available on September 15th, the same day that Metroid: Samus Returns hits the platform. It sports a color scheme reminiscent of the iconic bounty hunter’s spacesuit, as well as her silhouette printed on the top of the clamshell. Other than the fresh coat of space paint, though, it appears to be identical to the base model, but still looks to be a good way to upgrade for fans of the sci-fi series.
  2. Samus Returns isn’t the only Metroid on the way either: at E3 this year, Nintendo revealed that Metroid Prime 4 is in the works for the Switch.
