  12. I don't really fret over it any more, but there has been some chatter around the SEO communities with some talk of upticks in traffic.

  14. I noticed one common factor. It is Page Rank. Recent updates show how important is the age of the domain and thus the trust in it.

  16. Are you referring to PageRank? Or, the SERPs? I ask because PR has not been visible for quite some time now.
  17. Recent updates show how important is the age of the domain and thus the trust in it.
  18. Granted, age can factor into the search algo. But, I'm referring to some recent update - chatter has indicated some update has taken place what with some experiencing more traffic. Has anyone here noticed anything out of the ordinary?
  19. Yes, I mean Page Rank. It is not visible to us, but it is still important. An important component of PageRank is the age of the domain and the quality and quantity of incoming links.
  20. In recent days I have noticed that old sites are gaining high positions. I compared links and content. The only strong common factor is the age of the domains. It was the older ones who entered higher.

  22. It's anyone's best guess what a given page's PR is these days, and not a metric that can be measured.

  25. Actually, PageRank is solely determined by IBLs, period. Nothing else.
  26. PageRank works by counting the number and quality of links to a page to determine a rough estimate of how important the website is. The underlying assumption is that more important websites are likely to receive more links from other websites.

  28. So, I guess no one saw any change in SERPs or site traffic?
  29. This, people, is what a good portion of managing your own site or a clients site is all about. Members ask how can I get more traffic. How can I get better ranking. Well, the algorithm that Google utilizes is what determines ranking, therefore it determines whether one gets more or less organic traffic. Changes in the algo disrupts the norm - for the better or for worse.
  30. So I'll ask again - anyone notice any change in traffic or ranking since what was purported to be a Google update happened last weekend?
  31. It is the good question. I notice traffic changes all time because it is the part of my work.

  36. These screenshots don't tell many for you, but I can say that some unusual changes happened on 22 February. And I noticed fluctuactions on 2, 3 and 4 March. It does look as Google updates. For some sites traffic haven't recovered.
  37. My conclusion based on the data from 10 real ecommerce and info sites and 3 test sites.
  38. And now there's apparently more rumblings around another Ranking update.

  49. March 5th Google Search Ranking Algorithm Update?
  50. I sound like a broken record but I am once again seeing chatter and signals of yet another Google search ranking algorithm update. This one starting around March 5th and continuing through today.

  53. I don't remember exactly why, but it used to be common for Google updates to occur in two stages, about a week apart. It wasn't a secret, Mr Cutts explained it once upon a time. Small changes happened one week, then bigger ones a week later.
  54. Something I have noticed is that someone has been hoovering all the old com domains from GoDaddy's Bargain Bin, over a certain age. I could tell you why that is significant but that would be against my own interests.
  55. As J. Mueller said: We Make Changes Almost Every Day.
  56. This year it seems that Google is implementing some more serious changes every now and then.
  57. I agree.
  58. Additionaly they created new Search Console. It didn't affect the rank but it gave some troubles.
  59. Really ?
  60. I didn't consider any changes in Google Updates. May be changes as you guys are discussing, but as my opinion, Page Rank is still matters.

  63. PageRank matters - but if no one knows what the PR of any web page on the internet is any more, said people are wasting their time on something that anyone outside of Google, cannot possibly measure.
