  3. Very strange, I have no clue why it would suddenly change for no apparent reason. If this update had done that for the 840 Pro, I think people would have talked about it. Do you replace the drivers under Disk Drives or Storage Controllers?
  4. Thanks everyone - ok, we're good. My case, a Powerspec, was packed tightly with 4 1. I feel like I should be getting better than that? Click on firmware update and check to see if there is one available from Samsung.
  5. I did not use the Magician software. With Samsung's driver, we experienced a 71-minute loss in system availability on battery power. I found the hard drives were attached from both sides of the cage so I had to remove attachments on both sides to get at them. And this driver is for storage controllers. Thanks everyone - ok, we're good. Formatting the 850 took an hour or so. This is a significant loss on a gaming notebook with just over 5 hours of on-battery time. Does anyone know when Samsung with update their software to support Win10? I needed to got to Control Panel, System and Administrative Properties, Computer Management, Storage and initialize and format the drive. I installed it, but decided not to use it for migration. Click on firmware update and check to see if there is one available from Samsung. Her magician now says Drive is not supported as well.

  7. One of the more critical issues revolved around the use in a notebook. Simply put, with the driver installed, the storage system drank power in large gulps. We don't have a lot of information about the new 2. The revision date shows December 2016, but this didn't hit the web until after January 1. The supporting notes claim to fix two issues, one being excessive power consumption and the other a shutdown bug that we didn't experience during testing. We reported our findings to Samsung and were told the company would look into the issue. It seems the fix is ready, well kind of. This isn't the first time we've been stopped from downloading software on before. You should feel a performance increase with the custom driver just from the latency reduction alone. If you get an extra hour of battery life then you may notice that as well. To answer a previous question, the driver changes under storage controllers in device manager.
