They actually did bring on a second programmer to solve that particular bottleneck, and some sound effects creators too. They've actually asked for people to help them so they can pick up speed and so far not many people have responded. Now personally I do think they're mismanaging the money a bit by commissioning a bunch of work from various artists but that's what people want, and the money they get from the Patreon is only being spent on the game, as all of them have other jobs they do for living expenses.
