I've been building castles lately and it seems to of become an addiction but theres always basic things to make anything look just that little bit nicer
First is your scenery, Tree's can chance alot in the distance, Hedgerows can be a nice touch. Think about what you think looks good and just test things out.
Buttons and Levers placed on walls
pressure plates over the floor add a strange depth like Tiles
Vines can look great when hung around a garden
The Basics are the usual, start and just see how it goes. it can always be destroyed if you dont like it, and that way you find out what you think looks good or not
For bigger structures think about block types, black wool , grey wool, white wool, stone, cobblestone, stone bricks. They all have their own effects on a structure.
My Advice is take your time, too many rushed projects out there :sad.gif:
