Blockchain's February announcement that it hit 3 million bitcoin wallet downloads illustrates the product's continued rise in popularity, (14%) this quarter (Slide 8). The total number of bitcoin wallets has almost doubled since last year, closing Q1 at 8,457,207.
So, does this mean over 8 million new consumers are buying and spending bitcoin? Well, not exactly.
