  1. very man according as his work shall be, and that the
  2. unjust shall be unjust still, and the filthy, filthy still-while the
  3. righteous and the holy shall so remain. Rev. xxii. 12. O that every
  4. heart who hears me, might be brought by the Holy Ghost, to cry
  5. out, how shall this salvation from sin be obtained?
  6. In reply to such an inquiry I answer-The blessed bible tells us,
  7. "that the divine power of God hath given unto us all things, that
  8. pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that
  9. hath called us to glory and virtue; whereby are given unto us
  10. exceeding great and precious promises, that by these we might
  11. become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the
  12. corruption that is in the world through lust." These promises we
  13. are also told, are "all yea and Amen, in Christ, to the glory of God
  14. by us," so that if we seek by earnest prayer and faith in Christ, to
  15. have these promises fulfilled in us, their fulfilment is sure.-These
  16. promises are such as the following. "Ask, and ye shall receive-seek,
  17. and ye shall find-knock and it shall be opened unto you. For every
  18. one that asketh, receiveth, and he that seeketh, findeth-and to him
  19. that knocketh it shall be opened. If a son
  20. 18
  21. ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone, or
  22. if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent, or if he ask an
  23. egg will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, knew how
  24. to give good things unto your children; how much more shall your
  25. Father who is in heaven, give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him." I
  26. have already shown that the design of this gift or baptism of the
  27. Holy Spirit, which we receive through faith in Christ, is to save
  28. from sin. To "sprinkle with clean water, and cleanse us from all our
  29. filthiness and all our idols." This is the baptism of Christ, which
  30. cleanses from sin, or makes us dead to sin, and alive unto God
  31. through Jesus Christ our Lord. If you would have this "gift of the
  32. Holy Ghost," this "baptism of Christ," this salvation from sin, seek
  33. it, with earnest prayer, and faith in Christ, and you shall find in
  34. your own blessed experience, that "all things whatsoever you ask in
