Three years ago Google introduced us to its new design language called. It was flat, graphical and colorful. More and more attention was placed on battery life, security, performance stability and fine-grained user-facing control. Not as sexy as a complete visual overhaul, perhaps, but vastly more significant. Long pressing the home screen will bring up options for changing the wallpaper, adding widgets or accessing the home screen settings. Developers simply create a larger than necessary background for their app icon, which can then be masked with various shapes to create a more consistent look to the app icons on your phone. In terms of future-proofing the visual side of Android, Oreo has also included a couple of new features to keep up with the times.
