  1. Cherry plums suck a week’s soak,
  2. overnight they explode into the scenery of before
  3. your touch. The curtains open on the end of our past.
  4. Pink trumpets on the vines bare to the hummingbirds.
  5. Butterflies unclasp from the purse of their couplings, they
  6. light and open on the doubled hands of eucalyptus fronds.
  7. They sip from the pistils for seven generations that bear
  8. them through another tongue as the first year of our
  9. punishing mathematic begins clicking the calendar
  10. forward. They land like seasoned rocks on the
  11. decks of the cliffs. They take another turn
  12. on the spiral of life where the blossoms
  13. blush & pale in a day of dirty dawn
  14. where the ghost of you webs
  15. your limbs through branches
  16. of cherry plum. Rare bird,
  17. extinct color, you stay in
  18. my dreams in x-ray. In
  19. rerun, the bone of you
  20. stripping sweethearts
  21. folds and layers the
  22. shedding petals of
  23. my grief into a
  24. decayed holo-
  25. gram—my
  26. for ever
  27. empty
  28. art.
