  1. A fridge or freezer is a very important home appliance. It helps in the proper preservation and storing of our food stuffs. Freezers prevents food wastage and saves you lots of money in the process. However, you should know that not all groceries or food items are freezer-friendly.
  2. There are certain food products that can taste a lot different after coming out of a freezer. They can become less tasty and even dangerous for human consumption. In this article, I’ll be talking about some of the popular foodstuffs you should never put in a freezer, no matter what. See them below;
  3. 1. Onions.
  4. When an onion is kept in a refrigerator, the cold, humid temperatures converts the starch to sugar. Plus, every other food item in your fridge would start to smell or taste like onions. Always keep your onions in an open air bag or in a bowl where there is enough ventilation.
  5. 2. Eggs.
  6. Don't ruin perfectly good eggs by sticking them in the freezer. Although it's perfectly fine to store a whisked egg in the freezer, the water in a hard-boiled one will expand enough to crack it, welcoming bacteria inside. And if it doesn't crack, the whites will turn frosty inside. Keep your eggs in places where you want them to maintain their texture.
  7. 3. Fried Foods.
  8. Fried foods are delicious when they're fresh but not so much when they're cold. Putting them in the freezer will make them really difficult to reheat, and this could make you unable to enjoy them. Fried foods such as fried yam, plantain, eggs, potatoes, meat and others should never be put in the fridge.
  9. 4. Fully Cooked Pasta or noodles.
  10. Freezing fully cooked pasta or instant noodles leads to mushy, limp foods that are anything but appetizing. They can become really soft and attached together.
  11. 5. Leafy vegetables.
  12. There’s no way putting leafy vegetables in the fridge is healthy. Vegetables such as fluted pumpkin, water leafs, bitter leafs and others should be cooked and eaten when they are still fresh. You would mess them up by dumping them into the freezer. They all have a very high water content, leading them to ice over in the freezer.
  13. 6. Tubers.
  14. Tuber foods includes the likes of yam, potatoes and coco yam. They are called tubers because they are grown underground. They are carbohydrate-dense foods with lots of starch and calories. Freezing such food items in a fridge will separate the starch and from the skin making them soggy or watery
