Victims of the train crash down the US highway: 'He bounces like a ball'

  1. One survivor said she "bounced like a ball in a polishing machine" as the train crashed off the highways in the United States.
  2. Patricia Freeman, who was on the Amtrak passenger train to return to her home in Portland, Oregon, said the trees blocked the train from being overturned on the lower I-5 Federal Highway in Pierce County, Washington. Dislocated from the light rail on 18/12, according to Guardian.

  6. Aleksander Kristiansen, 24, said he was in the toilet when the accident happened and fell to the floor. As he stood up, the ship shook violently.

  11. Emma Schafer, from Seattle to Portland in winter break, said she slept when the accident happened. Schafer escapes the ship by moving through the fallen compartment of the highway.
  12. "Have you ever tried to sit in a strong cocoon while watching 3D movies? That's the feeling I've had," she said. "The scene is like the end of the world, when we get out of the nuclear shelter in the ruins, I'm still shocked and trying to break through."
  13. The incident occurred around 7:40 pm and 4 hours later, officials said some of the cabin compartment was not safe enough to search for victims, which means that the number of deaths can increase.
  14. At least 50 people were hospitalized, more than 10 seriously or severely injured, some requiring surgery. Amtrak said the southern Seattle railroad would pause but the north would continue to operate.
  15. The cause of the train derailed. The US Transportation Safety Board has set up an investigation team. An Amtrak official said the administration would consider the speed of the ship and the rail system to check for obstructions.

  18. December 18 is the first day the train uses the new rail link between Tacoma and Olympia, as part of the project to reduce travel time.
