------- BASIC STUFF ---------
BASIC COMMANDS
/help -- Exactly What It Says On The Tin. Shows a basic summary of all available commands. Works everywhere on Coinchat.
/me action -- this is the action command, it works just like the command in IRC.
/join #roomname -- this lets you join a room. The hashtag is required for rooms.
/pm username -- send a user a private message.
/ignore and /unignore username -- Blocks out a user's messages so you don't see them anymore, or undoes it, respectively.
/tip username amount message -- amount is a decimal amount you want to tip someone. Info on tips below. If you put in some text after the amount, it'll appear in the green tip message!
[first line] \ [second line] -- Use the right slash to post multiline text messages on Coinchat. You need one space before and after the slash.
REFERRAL LINK INFO
Coinchat gives you a referral link you can use -- this is really important for referral contests. You can also link people to specific rooms. You put the commands in the Coinchat URL like so:
http://www.coinchat.org/[command]
The commands are:
j:roomname -- this links people to a specific room.
r:yourusername -- your referral link!
r:yourusername&j:roomname -- Use this to send people to a specific room of your choice through your referral link.
FUN STUFF
* You can set your own avatar! Click the Profile button at the top of the window. Max avatar sizes are 150 x 150 px and 10 MB.
* You can also buy font colors! Font colors are 20 mBTC apiece. Click the Colors tab next to the message bar to buy one.
* Coinchat has custom smilies. Click on the happy Coinchat Kitty symbol next to the Colors tab and then click on one to use. The spam filter prevents you from using more than one of the same smiley in a message, though, so beware.
TIPS AND RANDOM FACTS
* Coinchat will automatically fill in the name for you with the TAB command! To use it, type the first few letters of a user's name and then press TAB.
* Press the +NEW ROOM/PM button to see a list of popular rooms.
* There is an auto-mute script on the site. If you set it off, please wait a few seconds between posting messages and be sure to not post the same message over and over again.
* To see a list of active mods, you can go to #mods.
* Sometimes, when you leave and re-enter a window, you'll see an orange dotted line. That line indicates where you last left off when you closed the window.
* You can have a maximum of 25 rooms or PM windows open at any time. A notice will pop up when you reach 25.
------- NETWORK-WIDE RULES -----------
Do not spam anywhere on the Coinchat server. Spam includes, but is not limited to:
* Copypasta
* Gibberish
* Messages strictly about you earning mBTC, ex. "If I type a message over 40 characters, I'll get paid. Ooh, I got 0.01 mBTC!"
* Talking to yourself in other rooms or posting messages over and over with no one to read them
* Advertising where it isn't allowed
-Do not flood any of the rooms
-All bots must have the word "bot" in their name
-Do not mute or ban evade. To dispute a ban please email the admin at: admin@glados.cc
-Do not do anything illegal on the server, discussion of illegal activities is allowed to a certain point (i.e. drugs). If it's something that can get the site in trouble it isn't allowed.
-Don't post links to malware or malicious websites.
-Do not impersonate other users or create accounts with names mimicking or impersonating others.
-Don't advertise anywhere where it isn't allowed.
------- RULES FOR THE MODERATED ROOMS: #OFFTOPIC, #LOBBY, #BITCOIN AND #NEWBIE --------
Four of the rooms in Coinchat are actively moderated, they're #offtopic, #lobby, #bitcoin and #newbie. They are often a user's first impression of Coinchat so they're moderated more strictly than the rest of the site. You can create and set your own rules in your own rooms as long as they don't break the network rules.
RULES
* Network rules apply.
* Don't post NSFW stuff (NSFW means Not Safe For Work).
* NO REFERRAL LINKS. That includes CoinURL links and the like. You can post such links in #reflinks and #links.
* Do NOT beg or ask for tips in either room. To do that, you can go to #begging.
* You can post links to your own websites, but you can only do so once a day.
* No trolling or flamewars.
* If a mod asks you to drop a subject, please do so.
* Bots are NOT allowed in #offtopic and only certain bots are allowed in #lobby.
* Do not use hate words -- racial and anti-gay slurs, sexist names, things like that. Hate speech is not allowed and is deeply frowned upon.
* Very bright eye-rapey colors are not allowed.
* English only in the modded rooms please. You're welcome to stay in the modded rooms as long as you speak English (or use Google Translate or something) but to speak in other languages please go to the appropriate room.
* Don't talk about yours or other people's auto-tips.
------- WHITELISTING AND PAYMENT LEVELS -------
Being whitelisted means your odds of getting rewards are higher, and you can use bots that require whitelisting like the one in
#thefaucet. Your links also won't be flagged as potential malware anymore.
How to get whitelisted:
* DO NOT ask to be whitelisted, mods aren't supposed to whitelist people who request it.
* Hang around the main rooms, #newbie, #offtopic, #bitcoin and #lobby where the mods usually skulk about.
* Talk about actual stuff with other people and do NOT spam or cause trouble -- to be whitelisted the mods have to believe you're contributing to Coinchat as an actual user.
* Keep doing this for a while (usually within a couple of hours, max a day or so), and you'll be whitelisted.
There's a new reward odds system in place! The base reward odds are now:
* Unwhitelisted -- LOW
* Whitelisted -- MEDIUM
* Promoted -- HIGH
Your odds will fluctuate because of the spam filter based on the quality of your messages -- like the time between messages (posting multiple messages rapidly will lower your odds, just use the multiline tag instead), how short your message is, etc.
Only the admin can promote people now, and it's all done manually. Good ways to help increase your odds of being promoted include:
* Creating popular rooms, helping improve Coinchat's code
* Contributing positively to the community for a long time
------- WITHDRAWING, TIPPING AND DEPOSITING --------
To either withdraw or deposit mBTC into Coinchat, you need to sign up for an inputs.io account.
You need a minimum of 5 mBTC to withdraw.
To withdraw, click the Withdraw button, put in the amount you want to take out, then put in your inputs.io email and submit.
Withdrawal fees are based on an accruing, sliding scale:
20% fee for the first 10 mBTC.
Plus 15% for next 25 mBTC,
Plus 10% for next 40 mBTC,
Plus 5% for the next 25 mBTC,
And finally add 2% for the rest.
So for example if you withdrew 120 mBTC:
You'd pay 20% for the first 10 -- 2
Then pay 15% for the next 25 -- 3.75
Then 10% for the next 40 -- 4
Then 5% on the next 25 -- 1.25
And finally 2% on the remaining 20: 0.4
For a total of 11.4 mBTC taken out of your withdrawal. Whoo, that was confusing.
FOR TIPPING:
* Minimum tip amount is 0.25 mBTC.
* There is a 20% fee docked from tips.
* You can tip people even if they're offline!
* BEWARE: there is a bug that allows you to tip names that aren't registered, so if you misspell a person's name you'll
have to ask the admin to recover the funds.
-------- BOTS ---------
* Bots must have a separate account with "bot" in its name.
* Bots can NEVER post messages unprompted.
* The only exception to that rule is that they can post an ad in their own room only once an hour.
All bots have to be written in node.js.
--------- ADVANCED STUFF ----------
ROOM CREATION
To create a room, simply join it. If you're the first person inside, you own the room. :) You must always make sure at least one person is inside, because if no one is in a room it's automatically destroyed.
ROOM COMMANDS:
/kick username and /unkick username -- bans and unbans a person from a room, respectively.
/listop -- gives a list of all operators in the room. A room owner is an operator.
/op username and /deop username -- sets a person as an op and removes op status from a user.
