Below is my first reishi grow which was inoculated to 60% hardwood sawdust, 30% beech chips and wheat bran 18% on 17 January 2013 whole bag weight 3kg wet, fully colonized after a month. It went into the grow chamber when I notice it started growing out from the lip of the plastic bags (like the one shown in the photo below. So I make a 1cm by 1cm square hole for it to grow out from the side and it has been almost 1 month to date.
Why does it look so strange? Why is it ball shape instead of a conk like shape? The ball measure about 1 inch by 0.8 inch. Grow chamber is fogged and fanned every 15 minutes for 20 secs with 12hours light cycle on it. Humidity stays around 90-99%. Grow chamber is just a 75litre transparent box with good air exchange.
Would be great if anyone with experience can chime in?
