  15. All current ServInt customers will instantly benefit from Leaseweb’s service offerings, as well as its global presence through 19 datacenters across four continents.
  16. I’m sure you’re asking yourself, “What does this mean for me and my business?”
  17. As of now, your ServInt services, contacts, and the way you interface with us will not be changing. Your ServInt portal is still the way you’ll receive support, you’ll continue to interface with the same team you’ve always worked with at ServInt, and you’ll purchase services the same way you always have. Furthermore, we’ll be adding more resources for you to purchase additional services in various geographic locations and improve the services and support you receive.
  18. We are working closely with Leaseweb USA to ensure all ServInt customers have a smooth transition as we start the integration process. Aside from receiving the same services and support, you can rest easy knowing that your ServInt team will be here to ensure your needs and requests are still expertly met. You will now have more flexibility and options for your IT infrastructure with the suite of products and services available through Leaseweb, not to mention the expanded, global network you will be able to access.
  19. For additional information about ServInt and Leaseweb USA, I welcome you to review today’s press release and our frequently asked questions at the following URLs.

  22. We are excited about these new developments and what this means for our customers, and the opportunities this acquisition presents for your hosted sites and applications. As always, please let us know if we can be of any assistance. We’ll be happy to work with you to make sure you have the services, support, and resources you need now and for many years into the future.
  23. Best regards,

  25. Having been with servint for over 10 years, 15? I’m concerned they will raise prices and have more downtime/configuration problems. I think I’ve only had issues like 5 times in all the years.
  26. Anyone else have any experience with Leaseweb?
  27. This blows my mind. I always thought of ServInt as a scrappy independent serious player. Cool website and well thought out solid products. And now, juts like that, they are gone. About a year?? after the CEO returned to fix them. Ouch. Sorry to see you go ServInt. You were always on my short list of "real" go to hosts.
  28. Well, congrats to both parties :-)
  29. After all the negative reviews in 2017 (2016?) about ServInt, all over WHT at the time, and even considering Leaseweb's unfavorable status among many (myself included), I have to wonder if ServInt will actually improve. Or at very least, not have the internal meltdown that affected customers.
  30. Hmm... interesting.
  31. Yes, I have been with Servint 10 years or so, and this is pretty scary stuff. They also seem hellbent on completing all migrations by the end of the year. Sounds like they are rushing. There is also some text about backups going away, and there being an extra charge going forward. I will be watching very carefully, making my own backups and ready to jump ship (Knownhost?)
  32. The Leaseweb website was a little slow for me too. Oh, no! Going to go through the reviews here.
  33. My server was migrated yesterday. Without notice, unless you call the notice sent out on 9/18 where migration would occur within 24 to 48 hours adequate.
  34. After about 8 1/2 hours of downtime, which started around noon, what I found on recovery was:
  35. changes to sshd_config didn't get carried over
  36. missing PHP extensions
  37. PHP defaulted back to 5.6 for all instances
  38. Apache needing to be recompiled for missing items
  39. Sites not recovering properly after changes
  40. Permissions changes on a directory
  41. LeaseWeb seems to be more like LeastWeb. I manage other servers w ServInt and I'm not thrilled about how this is all going off. Might be time to move--after having weathered the support chaos of a couple years ago. At least then I could go to the CEO and have direct communication to resolve issues. Now? No warm fuzzies here at all.
  42. Yikes. I pay $55 a month for 2 nonprofit sites running drupal 7. I really like drupal but might think about migrating to free google site hosting.
  43. Wow, congrats to both companies!

  53. Dan, did they fix these problems for you?

  55. I'd already been on and fixed a number of issues. They said that they "fixed more". Needless to say, I was very disappointed. I still had to go back in and fix a number of php.ini modifications (Moodle's a beast!!!) for PHP 7.
  56. I also see "Acronis" running in "top". Really? Hmm...is that going to be an additional charge at some point? I've been w ServInt for over 10 years, yet now I'm looking at alternatives.

  59. Acronis is a premium backup agent, similar to R1Soft, normally both are billed as a premium service.
  60. Is it still running vsp, webhost manager, cpanel x?

  62. We're on a Flex VPS. Found out today that one site appears to have a corrupt db. Submitted ticket almost 2 hrs ago and no movement.
  63. All previous backups are gone, so no self-serve here.
  64. Excellent news for both companies! It is an ever-changing field out there.
  65. The question I don't have an answer for in the FAQ they say:
  66. 1. There will be no price increase
  67. 2. Backups will no longer be free
  68. How are both statements true?
  69. Interesting!
  70. Will they continue ServInt as a standalone brand or merge it with Leaseweb operations?

  73. As I understand it, from the email updates from them, they're moving everything over to LeaseWeb ops. I'm still using the ServInt portal now but they say they will be sending the new Leaseweb portal info in November.
  74. "... You will receive a separate message with your Leaseweb customer portal credentials in November. Until then, any support you need will still be provided through the current ServInt Portal at https://portal.servint.net..."

  77. Ah, so ServInt brand image will be left to die then. Sad.
  78. Hmm, no way to do backups. My migration happened today, apparently. But my sites are small. My total backup was 1.2 gb of files and database together. So if there isn’t a way to backup without paying more ... nope. The link they sent me for vps doesn’t work because they probably changed ip addresses on me. So I can;t lookey loo.

  80. With any migration or company transition, there will be bumps in the road. I feel like both companies are mature enough at this point to work them out.
  81. Best wishes. Hopefully, they will improve more.
  82. No VZPP and I don’t think there is cpanel. So far they are only letting me have Webhost Manager. Not really what I paid for and got no specifics on what they were cutting BEFORE I got moved.

  84. They're very short on specifics besides their FAQs. Had smooth sailing vith Servint for 8 years, but I just can't trust Leaseweb, so I moved preemptively on to greener pastures.
  85. Where did you move to?
  86. KnownHost. Their network doesn't stack up with that of Servint, but so far, and from limited experience, everything else is as good or better.
  87. FWIW, I moved most of our Servint business over to LiquidWeb. I started the process last year well before the LeaseWeb announcement, but the writing had been on the wall with Servint for quite a while.
  88. I don't need support often, but when I have needed to contact LiquidWeb, I have to say I've been consistently impressed with the level of support I receive. I don't say that lightly at all. In my experience LW provides support far above and beyond anything Servint has offered in the past 5 years. The trick to getting a timely resolution seems to be to initiate a request via live chat rather than a ticket. Just this past week I called them on the phone for the first time (ever) as I had an issue come up while I was driving, a very knowledgeable senior tech answered the phone on the second ring and spent about 30 minutes on the line troubleshooting and resolving the issue. I was pleasantly surprised at the level of service & support I received (and that doesn't happen often). Highly recommended.
  89. I have a website on one last server on Servint that was/is being moved. It's been offline over 12 hours with no update. Luckily I move all my other accounts a few years ago.

  91. In which of their datacenters is your website in?
  92. I still have one active VPS in LA DC. The only info I got is the one displayed in customer portal:
  93. "Between September 12th and December 1st, we plan to move your service to the new infrastructure."
  94. Leaseweb FAQ says:
  95. "With the exception of services that are currently operated out of Los Angeles, which will be migrated to Leaseweb’s San Francisco cluster, all services will remain in their current geographic area."
  96. I wonder how that will go...
  97. Update on ServInt/LeaseWeb VPS migration from LA to SF datacenter.
  98. I still have one active VPS running due to 30 days cancellation policy
  99. The good:
  100. Less than 30 minutes downtime. They've also migrated IPs.
  101. VPS is KVM now, before it was Virtuozzo/OpenVZ
  102. 3.10 vs 2.6 kernel
  103. The bad:
  104. Resources.
  105. Previously VPS had allocated 3 vCPU cores (E5-2620 v3 @ 2.40GHz), now it has only 2 vCPU cores on inferior CPU (E3 12xx @ 2.20GHz)
  106. RAM is about 7% less
  107. Disk space is about 2% less
  108. Ugly:
  109. Previously cancelled and expired VPSes disappeared from customer portal only. They were migrated too and are still up and running (Had custom default page which still appears if I punch IPs in browser).
  110. And then, there's infamous LeaseWeb $$ support.
