Sex is fun, feels great, and brings you closer to your partner and regular intimacy is also good for your mental and physical health. Making love can improve your heart function, lower your stress and anxiety levels, reduce aches and so much more. Unfortunately, some seemingly innocent habits before and after s£x could cause problems in the sack, ruining your healthy fun. Below are 5 things you should never do before and after s£x.
1. Don't use perfumed or scented products on your genital area.
While there's no shortage of scented soaps, gels, washes, lotions, and other products marketed for genital health, these products can irritate internal and external skin and should be avoided after s£x, especially for those with a vagina.
As Hill and Bohn previously told Insider, "We don't recommend using soaps or products with lots of added fragrance/chemicals, as they can alter your good, normal bacteria; ideally, you should wash just with warm water.
2. Don’t Eat Super Spicy Foods Or A Meal High In Fat.
If you’re planning to have sex, tone it down on the hot sauce. Spicy foods like curry and peppers can trigger symptoms of acid reflux, including heartburn, a burning sensation in the throat; this may make it difficult to get in the mood. And if your body is sensitive to fiery foods, you may not be able to hold in farts or burps
3. Don't drink too much.
Sure, light drinking can put some people in the mood, but overdoing it can dull your senses – and may send your big O packing. “Since alcohol is a known depressant, your ability to experience an orgasm may be diminished if you’re too buzzed,” says Dr. Williams.
One study at the University of Missouri-St. Louis found that 11% of alcohol users had problems achieving orgasm: Men who drank had a harder time ejaculating (pun intended), while women needed extra stimulation for their grand finale.
4. Don't take A hot bathtub shower after s£x.
An after-sex shower is good, however, jumping into a warm bathtub right after s£x is not. As a response to sexual stimulation, the vagina opens a little more. But when you take a warm bathtub shower just after that, you become more vulnerable to infections.
5. Don't rush out of bed to use the bathroom.
You may have heard you should pee immediately after s£x to avoid a urinary tract infection. But a little urine isn't going to make a difference, says Jennifer Bump, MD, a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. So stay put and snuggle after s£x (unless you have to pee, of course).
