  1. BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha has demanded PM Narendra Modi to break his silence on the controversy surrounding filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming film "Padmavati ". Defending films actors Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan who have remained silent on this film, Shatrughan Sinha said it was the PM and Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani who should first come out and speak.
  2. "Padmavati issue is raging today. People question me why Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan or Aamir Khan are silent on Padmavati but I want that PM Modi and I and B Minister should speak on this issue before these celebrities do. Why is the PM not breaking his silence?", questioned Shatrughan Sinha, BJP MP from Patna Sahib.

The actor-turned-politician also slammed filmmaker Bhansali maintaining that if he had entered into an agreement with the Rajput groups in Rajathan to screen the film for them before its officially released, why is he going back on this? He also, in an veiled attack at Bhansali, said that a filmmaker should not distort history so much that a particular community's sentiments are hurt.
