Chandigarh stalking case: Chandigarh BJP MP Kirron Kher today said both the boy and the girl should be listened to and that justice will be done, according to ANI. BJP Haryana chief Subhash Barala's son Vikas Barala and his friend Ashish Kumar stalked Varnika Kundu in their car last week. A patrol car caught them and Barala was arrested on charges of stalking, drunk driving, and wrongful restraint. He was, however, released on bail after a few hours. Since then, 29-year old Varnika and her father Virender Kundu, an IAS officer, have been vocal about the incident and demand justice. The Chandigarh police had earlier claimed that CCTV footage was not available as the cameras were 'non-functional', according to IANS.
They later said it was available through five cameras around the area. Subhash Barala maintained that an investigation would be carried out if his son had done anything wrong. He told ANI that neither he nor BJP had interfered into the matter. He said, “There should be an investigation on the basis of charges."
Virender Kundu had also posted on Facebook saying, "We will not interfere with the investigation or the prosecution, just as we do not want the accused to influence the investigation in any way. The police and prosecution should be allowed to do their job. We will join investigation whenever required by the police. We will contest in the court if we feel the charges are diluted or inadequately framed." Vikas Barala, 23, had arrived at the Chandigarh police station at Sector 26. He is an LLB student at Kurukshetra University.
