  117. Chapter On e
  118. Reprogram Your Mind
  119. Our mind is like a computer. How we program
  120. it is the way it’s going to function. You can have
  121. the most powerful computer ever made, the latest
  122. and fastest model, with the maximum amount of
  123. memory available, but if you put the wrong software
  124. in it, it’s not going to function as it was designed.
  125. We’ve all had to deal with computer viruses. They
  126. can get into a perfectly good computer and start to
  127. contaminate the software. Before long the computer is
  128. slow, then you can’t access your files. None of these
  129. problems occur because it’s defective or poorly made.
  130. The computer’s hardware is fine. It’s because somebody
  131. reprogrammed the software. Somehow the insides got
  132. messed up. Now the software is contaminated.
  133. In a similar way, when God created you, He
  134. ThinkBetterLiv_HCtextF1.indd 1 7/15/16 8:18:33 AM
  135. 2 Think Better, Live Better
  136. stepped back and said, “Another masterpiece.” Your
  137. hardware is perfect. You’re the right size, the right
  138. nationality, and you have the right gifts. Not only
  139. that, God put the right software in you. From the
  140. very beginning, He programmed you to be victorious,
  141. healthy, strong, and creative. Your original software
  142. says, “You can do all things through Christ.” He
  143. programmed, “Whatever you touch will prosper and
  144. succeed.” He programmed, “You are the head and
  145. not the tail. You will lend and not borrow. You are
  146. a victor and not a victim.” You were programmed to
  147. live an abundant, victorious, faith-filled life. That’s
  148. how your Creator designed you.
  149. The reason we don’t
  150. always experience this
  151. abundant life is that
  152. we’ve allowed viruses to
  153. contaminate our software.
  154. We say to ourselves, “I’ll never be successful. I’m not
  155. that talented.” “I’ll never break this addiction. I’ve had it
  156. too long.” “I’m slow, clumsy, and unattractive. Nothing
  157. good is in my future.” Because our software is infected,
  158. we go around with low self-esteem, we’re negative, we
  159. don’t believe our dreams will come to pass, and we
  160. don’t expect problems to turn around.
  161. You were programmed
  162. to live an abundant,
  163. victorious, faith-filled life.
  164. ThinkBetterLiv_HCtextF1.indd 2 7/15/16 8:18:33 AM
  165. Reprogram Your Mind 3
  166. Here’s the good news, though. There is nothing
  167. wrong with you. Like that computer, you’re not a
  168. mistake. You’re not defective or faulty. The problem is
  169. in your software. You have to get rid of the viruses.
  170. All through the day, dwell on what your Creator says
  171. about you. “I’m blessed. I’m strong. I’m healthy. I’m
  172. confident. I’m attractive. I’m valuable. I’m victorious.”
  173. You have to get back to your original software. If
  174. your thinking is limited, your life will be limited.
  175. When you think better, you’ll live better.
  176. Learn to Hit the Delete Button
  177. To restore our original software, one of the best
  178. things we can learn to do is hit the delete button.
  179. When negative, discouraging thoughts come trying
  180. to contaminate your software, just hit delete before
  181. they start affecting how you live. That thought says,
  182. You’ve seen your best days. It’s all downhill from here.
  183. Recognize that’s a virus trying to keep you from your
  184. destiny. It’s real simple. Delete. Say to yourself, “I’m
  185. not dwelling on that. My software says, ‘The path
  186. of the righteous gets brighter and brighter.’ ”
  187. You’ll never get well. You saw the medical report.
  188. ThinkBetterLiv_HCtextF1.indd 3 7/15/16 8:18:33 AM
  189. 4 Think Better, Live Better
  190. Delete. Replace it by saying, “God is restoring health
  191. back to me. The number of my days He will fulfill.”
  192. You’ll never accomplish your dreams. You’re not that
  193. talented. You don’t have what it takes. Delete. Delete.
  194. Delete. “I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I have
  195. the favor of God. Whatever I touch prospers and
  196. succeeds.”
  197. You’ll never break that addiction. Your father was an
  198. alcoholic, and you’ll be one, too. Delete. “No weapon
  199. formed against me will prosper. Whom the Son sets
  200. free is free indeed, and I am free.”
  201. If you’re going to reach your highest potential,
  202. you have to get good at hitting the delete button.
  203. When I stepped up
  204. to pastor the church,
  205. every thought told me,
  206. You can’t do this, Joel. You
  207. don’t know how to minister.
  208. You’re too young. You
  209. don’t have the experience. Nobody is going to come. It
  210. would have been easy to let that virus take root and
  211. keep me from my destiny. I did what I’m asking you
  212. to do. I kept hitting the delete button. You can’t do
  213. it. Delete. You’re too young. Delete. Nobody is going
  214. to come. Delete. You don’t have the experience. Delete.
  215. If you’re going to reach
  216. your highest potential, you
  217. have to get good at hitting
  218. the delete button.
  219. ThinkBetterLiv_HCtextF1.indd 4 7/15/16 8:18:33 AM
  220. Reprogram Your Mind 5
  221. It’s not going to work out. Delete. I wouldn’t be where
  222. I am today if I hadn’t become an expert at hitting
  223. the delete button.
  224. Guard Your Mind
  225. The Scripture tells us to guard our mind. You control
  226. the doorway to what you allow in. You can dwell on
  227. every negative thought and every derogatory comment,
  228. or you can choose to delete it and dwell on
  229. what God says about you. If I had let those negative
  230. thoughts play over and over in my mind, they would
  231. have contaminated my confidence, contaminated my
  232. self-esteem, and contaminated my future.
  233. Why don’t you start hitting the delete button?
  234. Quit dwelling on every negative thought that comes
  235. to your mind. That’s the enemy trying to contaminate
  236. your software. If he can control your thinking, he
  237. can control your whole life. If the thought is negative,
  238. discouraging, pushing you down, don’t dwell on
  239. it. Delete it. Pay attention to what you’re thinking.
  240. If you go around thinking that you’re not talented,
  241. you’ll never have the confidence to step into your
  242. destiny. If you think you’re unattractive, you’ll never
  243. ThinkBetterLiv_HCtextF1.indd 5 7/15/16 8:18:33 AM
  244. 6 Think Better, Live Better
  245. meet the people you were supposed to meet. If you
  246. think you can’t break the addiction, you can’t. If you
  247. think you’ve reached your limits, you have. It’s not
  248. because you can’t go further. You’ve just convinced
  249. yourself that you can’t.
  250. The good news is that it’s not too late. You can
  251. still become everything God created you to be. Here’s
  252. a key: You have to clear out all the negative things
  253. people have said about you. You are not who people
  254. say you are. You are who God says you are. Clear out
  255. the negative things that the coach or the teacher said
  256. about you. “You’re too small. You don’t have what it
  257. takes.” Delete it. Quit dwelling on that. You’re the right
  258. size. You have exactly what you need for the race that’s
  259. been designed for you.
  260. Clear out what the
  261. counselor said. “You’re just
  262. a C student. You’re not
  263. college material.” Delete
  264. it. You’re an A student.
  265. You have seeds of greatness.
  266. Clear out what the ex-boyfriend or the ex-spouse
  267. said. “You’re not attractive. You’re not good enough
  268. for me.” Delete it. You’re a masterpiece, one of a kind,
  269. beautiful, attractive, a prized possession.
  270. You have to clear out all
  271. the negative things people
  272. have said about you.
  273. ThinkBetterLiv_HCtextF1.indd 6 7/15/16 8:18:33 AM
  274. Reprogram Your Mind 7
  275. You may have to clear out what a parent said
  276. about you. “You’re so undisciplined. You’re never going
  277. to amount to much. You can’t do anything right.”
  278. Delete it. You are destined to do great things. You’re
  279. destined to leave your mark on this generation.
  280. Water the Right Seeds
  281. I read a report about children who had been bullied
  282. in school. It talked about how, years later, those negative
  283. words from bullies were still having an effect on
  284. many of them. The researchers interviewed one man
  285. who was in his forties. He looked to be a bright,
  286. intelligent man, but he had not been able to hold
  287. down a good job, he struggled in his relationships,
  288. and he just couldn’t seem to get his life on course.
  289. He told how as a child he was chubby, and some
  290. of the other children made fun of him and called
  291. him names such as “loser” and “failure.” He made
  292. the mistake of letting those words take root in his
  293. thinking, and it had a dramatic impact on his life.
  294. It was keeping him in mediocrity.
  295. When somebody calls you something, either good
  296. or bad, that seed is planted in your soil. Now you get
  297. ThinkBetterLiv_HCtextF1.indd 7 7/15/16 8:18:33 AM
  298. 8 Think Better, Live Better
  299. to determine whether or not that seed takes root and
  300. grows. When you dwell on what was said, you are
  301. watering the seed. You’re giving it a right to become
  302. a reality. That’s why it’s so important that we’re disciplined
  303. in our thought life. It’s great when people
  304. tell you, “You’re blessed. You’re talented. You’re going
  305. to do great things.” Water those seeds. Meditate on
  306. those throughout the day. That’s what you want to
  307. become a reality.
  308. But too often we make the mistake of watering
  309. the wrong seeds. If you allow negative things
  310. that other people say about you to take root, it’s
  311. not their fault. They can’t make a seed take root
  312. in you. All they can do is sow the seed. You have
  313. complete control over what seeds are going to grow
  314. in your own soil. A lot of times we blame others.
  315. “They were talking about me. They tried to make
  316. me look bad. They were criticizing me.” Let them
  317. talk all they want. You control your own soil. Don’t
  318. dwell on the negative. Don’t replay what they said
  319. over and over. Guard your mind. Those are viruses
  320. trying to infiltrate your software.
  321. This is what the Lord told Joshua after Moses
  322. had died and he was to lead the Israelites into the
  323. ThinkBetterLiv_HCtextF1.indd 8 7/15/16 8:18:33 AM
  324. Reprogram Your Mind 9
  325. Promised Land: “If you will meditate on what God
  326. says about you day and night, you will have good
  327. success and prosper in everything you do.” When
  328. your mind is filled with thoughts of faith, thoughts
  329. of hope, and thoughts of victory, that’s what will
  330. become a reality.
  331. Do you know why that man who was in his
  332. forties was still struggling? He let those derogatory
  333. comments play over and over in his mind. Every time
  334. he thought about it, he was watering that seed year
  335. after year. It’s sad to say, but it became a reality. How
  336. different would his life be if he had just learned to
  337. hit the delete button? Instead of constantly playing
  338. the negative, he should have gone around thinking,
  339. I’m a masterpiece. I’m one of a kind. I’m talented.
  340. I’ve got seeds of greatness. It would have been a whole
  341. different story.
  342. Reprogram Your Software
  343. Are there any viruses that are contaminating your
  344. computer? Are you allowing what people have spoken
  345. over you to hold you back? We can’t stop the negative
  346. ThinkBetterLiv_HCtextF1.indd 9 7/15/16 8:18:33 AM
  347. 10 Think Better, Live Better
  348. voices from speaking, but we can choose whether or
  349. not we’re going to dwell on what they say. God has
  350. given each of us a delete button.
  351. I talked with a man who was raised by a very negative
  352. father. His father was always putting him down, telling
  353. him what he couldn’t become. Not surprisingly, this
  354. son, when he was in his twenties and even through his
  355. thirties, couldn’t seem to ever get ahead. Life was always
  356. a struggle. He had a college degree, but he couldn’t get
  357. a good job and couldn’t keep a steady relationship. He
  358. told how his father’s words were always playing in the
  359. back of his mind: “You’ll never be successful. You don’t
  360. have what it takes.” Even when his father was on his
  361. deathbed, he looked at him and said, “Your brother
  362. never amounted to anything, and you won’t either.”
  363. Those were the last words he ever heard his father
  364. speak. For years he went around with a smoldering
  365. anger, feeling inferior, and all of that negativity acted
  366. like an anchor on his life. He wouldn’t take a new
  367. position. He didn’t feel qualified. He was too afraid.
  368. All these bondages were the result of the words that
  369. were spoken over him. We know the importance of a
  370. father’s blessing, what weight that carries, but unfortunately
  371. some people don’t receive that blessing.
  372. ThinkBetterLiv_HCtextF1.indd 10 7/15/16 8:18:33 AM
  373. Reprogram Your Mind 11
  374. One day this man heard me talking about wrong
  375. mind-sets and making sure you don’t have things that
  376. are holding you back. He realized that his father’s
  377. words had become a stronghold in his mind. He
  378. started hitting the delete button, reprogramming his
  379. software. When he heard, “You don’t have what it
  380. takes,” he hit delete and said, “I’m equipped. I’m
  381. empowered. I’m well able.” When he heard, “You’ll
  382. never amount to anything,” he hit delete and declared,
  383. “I will fulfill my destiny. I will become all that God
  384. has created me to be.”
  385. Today this gentleman is extremely successful and
  386. has a beautiful family. They volunteer at our services.
  387. Everything changed when he started hitting
  388. the delete button. Maybe you are like him and you
  389. didn’t receive your earthly father’s blessing. The good
  390. news is that you have your Heavenly Father’s blessing.
  391. Almighty God is saying to you, “You are My
  392. masterpiece. You are one of a kind. You have seeds
  393. of greatness. You are equipped, strong, talented, and
  394. beautiful.” That’s what should be playing in your
  395. mind. No matter who tried to tell you otherwise—a
  396. parent, a friend, a coach, a neighbor—delete that and
  397. reprogram your software. You are not defective. You
  398. ThinkBetterLiv_HCtextF1.indd 11 7/15/16 8:18:33 AM
  399. 12 Think Better, Live Better
  400. are not flawed. You have been fearfully and wonderfully
  401. made.
  402. You may have been
  403. through unfair situations.
  404. People have spoken
  405. things over you that
  406. they had no business
  407. saying. You could easily
  408. go around feeling bad, having low self-esteem, low
  409. self-worth. But don’t ever let what someone said or
  410. what someone did keep you from knowing who you
  411. really are. You are a child of the Most High God.
  412. You have royal blood flowing through your veins.
  413. God has crowned you with His favor. People may
  414. have tried to push you down and make you feel
  415. insignificant, but that does not change who you are.
  416. You are still the apple of God’s eye. You are still
  417. His most prized possession. God still has an amazing
  418. future in front of you. If you will hit that delete
  419. button and get rid of any strongholds, God will take
  420. what was meant for your harm and He will use it
  421. to your advantage. The psalmist said, “Even if my
  422. father and mother forsake me, God will adopt me
  423. as His very own child.”
  424. You are not defective.
  425. You are not flawed. You
  426. have been fearfully and
  427. wonderfully made.

  430. The Battle Takes Place in Your Mind
  431. I know a lady who struggled with her self-worth for
  432. many years. Growing up, she never felt she was good
  433. enough or that she fit in. These insecurities stemmed
  434. from being a child born out of wedlock. Her mother
  435. and father weren’t married. One day, as a little girl,
  436. she saw her birth certificate and noticed the box was
  437. checked that said, “Illegitimate.” That phrase became
  438. ingrained in her thinking. All through her childhood
  439. and her teenage years, anytime she tried to move
  440. forward, these words would come up in her mind
  441. once again. “You’re a mistake. Nobody even wanted
  442. you. You’re not valuable.” She believed the lies, which
  443. dramatically affected her personality, her attitude, and
  444. even her marriage.
  445. One day she discovered that our worth and value
  446. doesn’t come from people; it comes from Almighty
  447. God. She said, “It was like something exploded on
  448. the inside.” She decided to start hitting the delete
  449. button. When thoughts came saying, You’re not valuable.
  450. You have no future, instead of dwelling on them
  451. and letting them depress her, she reprogrammed her
  452. ThinkBetterLiv_HCtextF1.indd 13 7/15/16 8:18:33 AM
  453. 14 Think Better, Live Better
  454. software. “I’m not a mistake. I’m not an accident.
  455. God chose me to be here before the foundation of
  456. the world. I’m accepted. I’m approved. I’m valuable.”
  457. Her attitude was, No matter what my birth certificate
  458. says, I know I am legitimate. Almighty God breathed His
  459. life into me. Today, now that her thinking is better,
  460. she is living a blessed, free, confident life.
  461. Make sure there are no strongholds in your mind
  462. that are keeping you back. I’ve learned that anytime
  463. we try to move forward in faith, there will always
  464. be people trying to contaminate our software. They
  465. may not do it on purpose, but they’ll tell you what
  466. you can’t do and why it’s not going to work out.
  467. “My cousin tried and failed.” “My grandmother died
  468. of that same disease.” The negative voices will come
  469. out of the woodwork. But remember, God didn’t put
  470. the promise in them. God put the promise in you.
  471. Don’t let people talk you out of your destiny.
  472. That’s why we start off every message by saying,
  473. “I am who God says I am.” We’re saying in effect,
  474. “I am not who my history teacher says I am. I am
  475. not who my ex-spouse says I am. I am not who the
  476. critics say I am. I am who God says I am.” I like
  477. to take it one step further. “Not only am I who
  478. God says I am, but I can do what God says I can
  479. ThinkBetterLiv_HCtextF1.indd 14 7/15/16 8:18:33 AM
  480. Reprogram Your Mind 15
  481. do.” That means we know we’ve been programmed
  482. for victory. We’ve been programmed to reign in life.
  483. We’ve been programmed to overcome obstacles. We
  484. will accomplish our dreams. We will meet the right
  485. people. We will step into the fullness of our destiny.
  486. When you think like that, all the forces of darkness
  487. cannot stop you.
  488. The real battle is taking place in your mind. If
  489. you’re defeated in your thoughts, you’ve already lost.
  490. You have to get rid of the viruses if you want to live
  491. better. If you will get back to the original software
  492. that was installed in you by your Creator, you’ll go
  493. places that you’ve never dreamed.
  494. Consider How You Were
  495. Programmed
  496. It’s interesting how little children start off so excited
  497. about life. They have big dreams. They’re going to
  498. become a scientist, an astronaut, a singer, a teacher, a
  499. ballplayer, even the president. They’re not intimidated.
  500. They’re not insecure. They believe they can do anything.
  501. It’s because they just came from their Creator.
  502. Their thinking has not been contaminated. They can
  503. ThinkBetterLiv_HCtextF1.indd 15 7/15/16 8:18:33 AM
  504. 16 Think Better, Live Better
  505. still feel the seeds of greatness. But over time, too
  506. often they start to get reprogrammed. Somebody tells
  507. them what they can’t become, what they can’t do. Little
  508. by little their environment starts to squeeze down on
  509. them. A coach says, “You’re not good enough. You’re
  510. too small.” Their self-esteem goes down. They see
  511. somebody more attractive, who is getting all sorts
  512. of attention, and they start to feel inferior. All these
  513. things begin to distort their thinking about who they
  514. really are. Before long, instead of dreaming big and
  515. believing possibility thoughts, they think, I’ll never do
  516. anything great. I’m not that talented. I’m just average.
  517. When we find ourselves stuck in these ruts, not
  518. believing we can rise any higher, we need to ask,
  519. “Why do I think this way? Who programmed me to
  520. think that I’m average? Who programmed me to give
  521. up on my dreams? Who programmed me to think
  522. I can’t lose this weight, I can’t break this addiction,
  523. I’ve gone as far as I can? Where did those thoughts
  524. come from?” Could it be that you have accepted a
  525. wrong mind-set because of the environment you were
  526. raised in, from the people you were around? Just
  527. because it seems normal to you doesn’t necessarily
  528. mean that it is normal.
  529. ThinkBetterLiv_HCtextF1.indd 16 7/15/16 8:18:33 AM
  530. Reprogram Your Mind 17
  531. Sometimes we’ve just
  532. learned to function in
  533. our dysfunction. Maybe
  534. everybody you grew up
  535. with was negative, but
  536. you’re not supposed to
  537. be negative. Negative is
  538. not normal thinking. Maybe your friends didn’t have
  539. big dreams. They didn’t do anything great in life, but
  540. that’s not okay for you. That’s not normal. Just because
  541. family members had addictions and bad habits, don’t
  542. make the mistake of thinking that it’s okay for you
  543. to live that way. Those are viruses that have been
  544. passed down, that keep infiltrating your thinking and
  545. affecting your living. God created you to go further,
  546. to live confidently, to be free, to be healthy, positive,
  547. and happy. You have greatness on the inside. Get it
  548. started by reprogramming your thinking.
  549. I heard a story about a German shepherd that
  550. was pregnant with puppies. One day she was walking
  551. across the street and got hit by a car. Both her back
  552. legs were broken, but she was able to drag herself off
  553. the street and back to her house. As the weeks went
  554. by, she slowly recovered. Her legs finally healed, but
  555. Could it be that you
  556. have accepted a wrong
  557. mind-set because of the
  558. environment you were
  559. raised in?
  560. ThinkBetterLiv_HCtextF1.indd 17 7/15/16 8:18:33 AM
  561. 18 Think Better, Live Better
  562. because they weren’t properly reset, all she could do
  563. was drag her back legs. She couldn’t walk properly.
  564. Her joints had been messed up. Eventually she had
  565. her puppies. They seemed healthy and whole, but
  566. several weeks later, when they started walking, they
  567. dragged their back legs just like their mother did.
  568. The owner was amazed. He thought maybe they had
  569. been injured in the accident as well. He took them
  570. to the veterinarian to have them checked out. The
  571. doctor discovered there was nothing wrong with their
  572. back legs. They were perfectly healthy. The puppies
  573. were simply copying their mother. That’s all they had
  574. seen modeled. In their minds, that was the way they
  575. were supposed to walk.
  576. That’s what has happened to many of us— we
  577. copied what we saw modeled growing up. The people
  578. who raised us were good people. They were doing
  579. their best, but in some ways they were dragging their
  580. back legs. They were negative, discouraged. Now we
  581. live negative, discouraged. They had addictions and
  582. low self-esteem. Now we struggle in those same areas.
  583. Maybe they made poor choices in relationships and
  584. became involved with the wrong people. Now we’re
  585. dealing with the same issues. We saw them accept
  586. mediocrity. Mediocrity has become normal to us.
  587. ThinkBetterLiv_HCtextF1.indd 18 7/15/16 8:18:33 AM
  588. Reprogram Your Mind 19
  589. The good news is, just like with those puppies,
  590. there is nothing wrong with your back legs. Those
  591. are simply wrong mind-sets you’ve developed. As you
  592. get your thinking straightened out, your legs will
  593. straighten out. God didn’t make you faulty. He didn’t
  594. create you subpar. He created you in His image. You
  595. are His masterpiece, crowned with favor, equipped
  596. with talent and gifts. You are destined to live a healthy,
  597. abundant, happy, faith-filled life. Don’t go around
  598. dragging your back legs. You are not supposed to
  599. go through life feeling inferior, held down by low
  600. self-esteem, addicted, having small goals and small
  601. dreams. That’s not who you are. Start reprogramming
  602. your mind as the head and not the tail. Program
  603. it with excellence, not mediocrity. Program it with
  604. abundance, not lack and poverty. Program it with
  605. freedom, not addictions.
  606. Strongholds Are Coming Down
  607. This is what my father did. He grew up in a very
  608. poor environment. His parents lost everything during
  609. the Great Depression. He had no money, a poor
  610. education, and no future to speak of. He had been
  611. ThinkBetterLiv_HCtextF1.indd 19 7/15/16 8:18:33 AM
  612. 20 Think Better, Live Better
  613. programmed with poverty, defeat, and mediocrity.
  614. That’s all he had ever seen. He could have settled
  615. and lived there, thinking, This is my lot in life. We’re
  616. just poor defeated people. But at seventeen years old,
  617. when he gave his life to Christ, he started reprogramming
  618. his thinking. Deep down, something said, “You
  619. were made for more than this. You’re not supposed to
  620. constantly struggle, to barely make it through life.”
  621. He could feel those seeds of greatness stirring on the
  622. inside. His attitude was, This may be where I am, but
  623. this is not who I am. I may be in defeat, but I am not
  624. defeated. I’m a child of the Most High God.
  625. Day after day, he kept hitting the delete button. A
  626. thought told him, You have no future. Delete. “God’s plans
  627. for me are for good, to give me a future and a hope.”
  628. You have no money. Delete. “I’m blessed. Whatever
  629. I touch prospers.”
  630. You didn’t even finish school. You’ll never get out
  631. of here. It’s impossible. Delete. Delete. Delete. “God is
  632. making a way where I don’t see a way. He is opening
  633. doors that no man can shut. He is bringing the right
  634. people across my path. I will step into the fullness
  635. of my destiny.”
  636. He reprogrammed his thinking with thoughts of
  637. faith, thoughts of hope, and thoughts of victory. As
  638. ThinkBetterLiv_HCtextF1.indd 20 7/15/16 8:18:33 AM
  639. Reprogram Your Mind 21
  640. his thinking improved, he rose up out of that poverty
  641. and set a new standard for our family.
  642. You may have been raised in a limited environment.
  643. All you saw modeled was strife, addictions,
  644. conflict, low self-esteem, and mediocrity. Don’t let
  645. that set the limits for your life. Don’t go around
  646. dragging your back legs. God wants you to go further.
  647. It starts by getting rid of viruses. Hit the delete
  648. button. A thought tells you, You’ve gone as far as you
  649. can. Delete. You’ll never get well. Delete. You’ll always
  650. be addicted. Delete. This is as good as it gets. Delete.
  651. If you will get good at hitting the delete button,
  652. you will break out of bondages and step into freedom.
  653. You will break out of lack and poverty and step into
  654. abundance. You will break out of mediocrity and step up
  655. to excellence. This is a new day. Strongholds are coming
  656. down. Wrong mind-sets are being broken. Viruses are
  657. being cleared out. Get ready for God to do something
  658. new. Get ready to see His goodness in amazing ways.
  659. Clear Out Every Virus
  660. When Carl Lewis was training for the Olympic
  661. Games, the experts said no person can jump over
  662. ThinkBetterLiv_HCtextF1.indd 21 7/15/16 8:18:33 AM
  663. 22 Think Better, Live Better
  664. thirty feet. Scientists had run their calculations, done
  665. all their research. According to their data, no one
  666. could ever jump that far. A reporter asked Carl Lewis
  667. what he thought about it. He responded, “Yes, I know
  668. the experts say it can’t be done, but I don’t listen to
  669. that kind of talk. Thoughts like that have a way of
  670. sinking into your feet.” He went on later that same
  671. year to jump over thirty feet and break the world
  672. record.
  673. Are you allowing negative thoughts to sink into
  674. your feet, to stifle your potential, to handicap your
  675. life’s race? Why don’t you do what he did? Start
  676. hitting the delete button. God has the final say. He
  677. wouldn’t have put the dream in your heart or given
  678. you that promise if He didn’t have a way to bring
  679. it to pass.
  680. Delete what the
  681. naysayers have told you.
  682. Delete the discouraging
  683. words. Delete the negative
  684. reports. You have to
  685. get back to your original
  686. software. Who told you that you can’t be successful?
  687. Who told you that you can only make Cs in school?
  688. Who told you you’re not tall enough, not smart enough,
  689. Are you allowing negative
  690. thoughts to sink into
  691. your feet, to stifle your
  692. potential?
  693. ThinkBetterLiv_HCtextF1.indd 22 7/15/16 8:18:33 AM
  694. Reprogram Your Mind 23
  695. that you’ve reached your limits? I can assure you
  696. those words did not come from your Creator. Those
  697. are viruses trying to contaminate your software. Don’t
  698. let what anyone told you or what anyone modeled
  699. for you limit your life. There is nothing wrong with
  700. your back legs. Start reprogramming your mind. All
  701. through the day, dwell on what your Creator says
  702. about you. “I’m blessed. I’m healthy. I’m talented. I’m
  703. valuable. My best days are still out in front of me.”
  704. If you’ll do this, I believe and declare, every virus
  705. is being cleared out, even right now. Strongholds are
  706. coming down. Wrong mind-sets that have held you
  707. back for years will no longer have any effect on you.
  708. As Joshua was promised, you will have good success
  709. and prosper in everything you do.
