A 20-year-old woman on Tuesday cut the genitals of a neighbour who allegedly attempted to rape her in a suburban Mumbai workshop.

The man, 24-year old Shamsher Sheikh, has been arrested. A case has been registered under IPC sections 376 (punishment for rape) and 511.
Sheikh told the woman he had a job to offer her, and asked her to come to the workshop where he allegedly forced himself on her.
Her screams for help were drowned by the loud music blaring outside. It was Independence Day.
Her pleas to be let go fell on deaf ears, and Sheikh hit her, a police officer said.
A blade lying nearby turned out to be the woman's saviour.
She escaped after cutting Sheikh's genitals with it, leaving him in a pool of blood, the officer said.
She then filed a complaint at the nearest police station
