  1. The Eye is one of the most important organs of the body. It is generally regarded as the light of the body and it truly serves as such. Because of the importance of the eye, it is necessary that we know some of the habits that affect the eye health and the ones that help in promoting better eye health.

  3. 1. Rubbing your eye
  4. This is one of the most common habits almost everyone portrays on a regular basis. A lot of people do this because of lack of knowledge and ignorance. Studies have shown that this habit could really have a side effect on your eye health.
  5. According to a research, rubbing the eye could break tiny vessels around the eye. In turn, this could lead to dark circles appearing around the eyes and puffy appearance.
  6. Over time, this bad habit could cause the cornea to lose its shape and become thinner.
  7. 2. Not getting enough sleep
  8. Sleep remains one of the most important things a person should do despite the fact that doing it too much has disadvantages. Not getting enough sleep could lead to red bloodshot eyes which almost everyone notice when they don't have enough sleep.
  9. It could cause dark circles, puffy appearance, dry eyes and blurry vision. It doesn't only affect your vision but your overall health.
  10. 3. Not eating properly
  11. When we talk about eating properly, this includes eating both fruits and lots of vegetables. Keeping your distance from some of these fruits and vegetables could make your eye lack some important vitamins which will definitely backfire on your eye health.

  13. Not drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day could lead to dehydration which will affect your eye health making your eye not to release enough tears that keep your eye moisture.
  14. 5. Not going for regular eye check ups.
  15. It is important that you go for regular eye check ups at least once every months, this helps you detect some eye related conditions at its early stage and treat them before they advance into something else.
