  17. I changed my FTP client and it's the same result. Filezila and Cyberduck, I am with a macbook pro.

  29. When I use FileZila I'm greeted with the same issue, to resolve it, I've had to change the connection encryption from "require explicit ftp over tls" to "only us plain tps" or something along that line, I've recently rebooted my computer so haven't installed it again yet.

  35. Strongly suggest you don't go without *any* encryption. Plain FTP reveals too much during connections.

  42. Would be best to contact the host and have them help you contact to their FTP server. They may have implicit SSL setup instead of explicit and if that is the case you need the specific port . If you can use SFTP, ftp over ssh), then you can use that instead with either application .

  54. What is the complete error message you get while you try to connect? Fillezilla produces some extra messages too..Just add those errors here if you can.
  56. "connection refused" can also be caused due to IP being blocked. see your support to whitelist your IP in the firewall.

  60. If you are able to login successfully, and error in downloading files, it may have to do with active/passive mode. I guess some ftp clients automatically detect it.
  61. Worth a check, by enabling debug mode. Passive mode of transfer should usually work, unless misconfigured on server side.
  63. Most FTP servers have SSL(optional), meaning client can decide to choose to use ssl. You would obviously want to use SSL(force-ssl).
  65. Here is a test lftp rc file, which you can check with your ftp client, in debug mode:-
