  8. cuffs frayed with sparks from the torch.
  9. At shift's end the socks emerge tinged
  10. pale orange, tops of the arches crisscrossed
  11. with lace marks, propped up in front
  12. of the six o'clock news. Here's to the sweet
  13. breath of pond mist filling the lungs of summer.
  14. Here's to baked beans and twelve hours off.
  15. Here's to dust from the trucker's shoe, dust
  16. he stepped into three states back.
  17. Here's to shingles, aluminum flashing,
  18. wall studs, rafters, ten-penny nails,
  19. here's to tomatoes, onions and corn,
  20. here's squatting down and here's reaching over,
  21. here's to the ones who showed up
