A tsunami of ice has slammed into a lakeside community in Canada, crushing several houses.
The wall of ice, which hit Manitoba's Ochre Beach, lasted 15 minutes,
and sent locals fleeing to safety.
"They heard it before they saw it (the ice) coming up their decks,"
local official Clayton Watts told the Winnipeg Free Press.
"Then it came right in their front windows. It was just a matter of minutes."
A booming noise alerted many people and gave them enough time to safely evacuate,
Watts added.
"Fortunately, no one was hurt," he said. "We were very lucky."
A similar ice wave was reported in the US state of Minnesota.
