  2. Episode 1
  3. it was a monday morning, in the city of calabar.
  4. People could be seen walking to and fro. Every
  5. young and old folk were walking briskly to their
  6. destination.
  7. The city of calabar is always a beehive of
  8. activities. People going to their various
  9. workplace could be seen rushing to avoid getting
  10. late to work.
  11. Some stood on the road flagging down vehicles
  12. that would convey them to their destination.
  13. There was a sonorous noise in the whole city
  14. which was incessant &clamorous.
  15. The noise which came from the fast moving
  16. vehicles was accumulated with the noise of the
  17. hawkers, who were displaying their wares.
  18. All moving vehicles suddenly came to an halt. It
  19. seemed as though, there was a gigantic traffic
  20. withhelding them from moving.
  21. All drivers peered outside through their window
  22. with a puzzled look on their face, wondering
  23. what was happening.
  24. All the cars queued up within a short while
  25. causing a heavy traffic jam.
  26. Different car horns blared loudly as the drivers
  27. tried to create a way but all efforts was futile.
  28. The hawkers were elated and gratified at the
  29. traffic jam. As they saw it as an opportunity to
  30. sell their wares. They moved from vehicle to
  31. vehicle propelling passengers to patronize them.
  32. Detective cole sat in his BMW car and was on
  33. the wheel.
  34. He was extremely infuriated at the traffic jam as
  35. he checked his golden wristwatch persistently,
  36. which his wife Nora bought for him as his
  37. birthday’s gift.
  38. He was running out of time and he disdain
  39. getting late to work.
  40. He angrily banged the horns of his car with a
  41. clenched fist.
  42. “holy s--t!” he cursed under his breath and
  43. removed his seatbelt.
  44. He decided to go have a look of what caused the
  45. traffic.
  46. He adjusted his tie properly and alighted from
  47. the car.
  48. He hadn’t taken more than three steps when he
  49. heard an explosion which came far away from
  50. where he stood.
  51. Before he could comprehend what was
  52. happening another sounded and swept everyone
  53. away from their feet.
  54. The second explosion reverberated and flung him
  55. far away.
  56. Just like flash, everything happened within a
  57. second.
  58. The cloud of debris and pieces of scattered flesh
  59. and car’s fragment with a huge puff of smoke
  60. was all one could see.
  61. In no minutes, the police came rushing to the
  62. scene with their sirens blaring loudly
  63. accompanied with tons of Ambulance vehicles.
  64. Three officers jumped down from the van and
  65. walked closer to the victims. While the other
  66. officers cleared the way for other Ambulance
  67. vans.
  68. They rushed out an carried the remainant of the
  69. dead bodies on stretchers into the waiting vans
  70. and immediately sped off.

  72. The light stung her eyes as she opened them,
  73. Nelson Nora shielded her eyes with her right
  74. hand and pulled herself up from the sofa with
  75. her left.
  76. She rubbed her forehead, they banged in a way
  77. she had never experienced before.
  78. She had just dismissed Cole her heartthrob for
  79. work an hour ago before she slumped on the
  80. chair and slept off.
  81. It was the headache that woke her up and the
  82. pain she felt at the moment was unbearable,
  83. they threatened to split her head.
  84. She reached for the television remote control
  85. which was laid on a low stool in front of her and
  86. turned on the t.v set.
  87. She never wanted to do so, but something she
  88. couldn’t attest to, propelled her to do so.
  89. The sound coming from the television was going
  90. straight into her head and she decided to switch
  91. it off but something caught her attention.
  92. It was the news flash. She restrained and squint
  93. her blurry eyes to read the headline.
  94. ‘A Nuclear bomb blast in calabar city.’ was the
  95. breaking news headline and a video footage of
  96. the explosion was shown afterwards.
  97. She readjusted her sitting position to have a
  98. clear view of the footage.
  99. She saw dead bodies and fleshy pieces being
  100. carried away into the vans in haste, then the
  101. reporter was shown.
  102. It was a female reporter which one could guess
  103. was in her mid-twenties.
  104. “this is the first Nuclear bomb blast of this kind
  105. that this city has seen and experienced.
  106. Five hundred and three (503) people were
  107. confirmed dead who were victims of the
  108. unfortunate incident and twelve (12) were found
  109. injured including our beloved detective Cole who
  110. was trapped in the traffic jam before the
  111. explosion”
  112. Nora suddenly sprung up as though, she was
  113. being poured hot water.
  114. She was aghasted and petrified that Cole was
  115. also a victim.
  116. Beads of sweat immediately formed on her
  117. forehead and her legs started vibrating.
  118. The bangs on her head doubled from worse to
  119. worst.
  120. She tried to catch up with the last details as she
  121. concentrated on the t.v screen.
  122. “the police are yet to comment on the bomb
  123. blast, we will be back with an official police
  124. statement. its lance Kayle reporting. thanks for
  125. watching, stay with us.”
  126. the reporter said and her pretty face gave way
  127. for a bank advertisement.
  128. She switched off the television and paced up and
  129. down with worriment.
  130. She touched her forehead and the pain was
  131. severe, she became dizzy & her legs twitch. She
  132. couldn’t hold on any longer, it gave way and she
  133. slumped to the ground.
