  1. 2: The Creation
  2. This story is based on Genesis 1.
  3. The Father and the Son engaged in the mighty, wondrous work they
  4. had contemplated—of creating the world. The earth came forth from the
  5. hand of the Creator exceedingly beautiful. There were mountains and
  6. hills and plains; and interspersed among them were rivers and bodies of
  7. water. The earth was not one extensive plain, but the monotony of the
  8. scenery was broken by hills and mountains, not high and ragged as they
  9. now are, but regular and beautiful in shape. The bare, high rocks were
  10. never seen upon them, but lay beneath the surface, answering as bones
  11. to the earth. The waters were regularly dispersed. The hills, mountains,
  12. and very beautiful plains were adorned with plants and flowers and tall,
  13. majestic trees of every description, which were many times larger and
  14. much more beautiful than trees now are. The air was pure and healthful,
  15. and the earth seemed like a noble palace. Angels beheld and rejoiced at
  16. the wonderful and beautiful works of God.
  17. After the earth was created, and the beasts upon it, the Father and Son
  18. carried out their purpose, which was designed before the fall of Satan, to
  19. make man in their own image. They had wrought together in the creation
  20. of the earth and every living thing upon it. And now God said to His Son,
  21. “Let us make man in
  22. 20
  23. our image.” As Adam came forth from the hand of his Creator he was of
  24. noble height and of beautiful symmetry. He was more than twice as tall as
  25. men now living upon the earth, and was well proportioned. His features
  26. were perfect and beautiful. His complexion was neither white nor sallow,
  27. but ruddy, glowing with the rich tint of health. Eve was not quite as tall as
  28. Adam. Her head reached a little above his shoulders. She, too, was noble,
  29. perfect in symmetry, and very beautiful.
  30. This sinless pair wore no artificial garments. They were clothed with
  31. a covering of light and glory, such as the angels wear. While they lived
  32. in obedience to God, this circle of light enshrouded them. Although
  33. everything God had made was in the perfection of beauty, and there
  34. seemed nothing wanting upon the earth which God had created to make
  35. Adam and Eve happy, yet He manifested His great love to them by
  36. planting a garden especially for them. A portion of their time was to be
  37. occupied in the happy employment of dressing the garden, and a portion
  38. in receiving the visits of angels, listening to their instruction, and in happy
  39. meditation. Their labor was not wearisome but pleasant and invigorating.
  40. This beautiful garden was to be their home.
  41. In this garden the Lord placed trees of every variety for usefulness
  42. and beauty. There were trees laden with luxuriant fruit, of rich fragrance,
  43. beautiful to the eye, and pleasant to the taste, designed of God to be food
  44. for the holy pair. There were the lovely vines which grew upright, laden
  45. with their burden of fruit, unlike anything man has seen since the fall.
  46. The fruit was very large and of different colors; some nearly black, some
  47. purple, red, pink, and light green. This beautiful and luxuriant growth of
  48. fruit upon
  49. 21
  50. the branches of the vine was called grapes. They did not trail upon
  51. the ground, although not supported by trellises, but the weight of the
  52. fruit bowed them down. It was the happy labor of Adam and Eve to
  53. form beautiful bowers from the branches of the vine and train them,
  54. forming dwellings of nature’s beautiful, living trees and foliage, laden
  55. with fragrant fruit.
  56. The earth was clothed with beautiful verdure, while myriads of
  57. fragrant flowers of every variety and hue sprang up in rich profusion
  58. around them. Everything was tastefully and gloriously arranged. In the
  59. midst of the garden stood the tree of life, the glory of which surpassed
  60. all other trees. Its fruit looked like apples of gold and silver, and was to
  61. perpetuate immortality. The leaves contained healing properties.
  62. Adam and Eve in Eden
  63. Very happy were the holy pair in Eden. Unlimited control was given
  64. them over every living thing. The lion and the lamb sported peacefully and
  65. harmlessly around them, or slumbered at their feet. Birds of every variety
  66. of color and plumage flitted among the trees and flowers and about Adam
  67. and Eve, while their mellow-toned music echoed among the trees in sweet
  68. accord to the praises of their Creator.
  69. Adam and Eve were charmed with the beauties of their Eden home.
  70. They were delighted with the little songsters around them, wearing their
  71. bright yet graceful plumage, and warbling forth their happy, cheerful
  72. music. The holy pair united with them and raised their voices in
  73. harmonious songs of love, praise, and adoration to the Father and His dear

  75. Son for the tokens of love which surrounded them. They recognized the
  76. order and harmony of creation, which spoke of wisdom and knowledge
  77. that were infinite. Some

  80. discovering, which filled their hearts with deeper love and brought from
  81. their lips expressions of gratitude and reverence to their Crea
