  3. This document will be known as the Pipeline Construction Manual of Projects Department of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (subsequently referred to as SNGPL or the Company).

  5. It defines the objectives of Projects Department and lays down the procedures to achieve the objectives.

  7. It also defines the duties and responsibilities of Projects personnel and the channels of control.

  9. Any alteration / modification of this document would be possible only with the specific approval of the Management.

  11. Suggestions for revision, correction and additions pertinent to this Manual will be sent to the office of Head of Department.

  18. V Projects department is an integral and important part of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd. It undertakes construction of high pressure natural gas transmission lines, supply mains and operational phases for the distribution system along with installation /upgradation of SMSs/CMSs. The Projects department comprises of the following:-

  20. II. Material Control Section
  21. III. Maintenance and Coating Plant
  22. IV. Lands Section
  23. V. Administration, Accounts and Stores (support sections)
  24. The brief description of these sections is enumerated below:
  25. Pipeline Construction Section:
  26. Construction section is responsible for carrying out all the construction jobs. At present it has three major camp set-ups. These camps construct pipelines/SMSs/CMSs at various locations in the country. Construction section has capabilities of working in all types of terrains with pipe size up to 36” diameter. The detailed procedures for carrying out various construction activities have been described in the relevant sections of this Manual.
  27. Material Control Section:
  28. Material Control section is responsible for timely indenting and subsequent follow up with purchase & stores, till receipt of materials as per purchase order specifications.
  29. Maintenance & Coating Plant
  30. Material & Maintenance Control Section has following sub-sections:
  31. • Base Maintenance Workshop at Manga for Autar.Repair/Overhauling of vehicles and machines
  32. • Coating Plant located at Uch Sharif for three layer coating of steel pipes
  33. Generally the maintenance of vehicles and construction machinery is carried out at field workshop. In case of workshop work load is more, or special type of repair of machinery is required which is beyond the facilities at field workshop, the machine is dispatched to base Manga Workshop for repair/overhauling. -Coating Plant at Uch Sharif is responsible for three layer polyethylene coating of pipes, ranging from 6″ to 36″ diameter used for the construction of the pipelines.
  34. Lands Section:
  35. Land Section is responsible for acquiring, leasing and other land related jobs for laying pipelines. The detailed objectives and procedures of this section are described in relevant Section of the Manual.
  36. Administration, Accounts and Stores:
  37. Projects department has its own set up of three supporting sections to expedite the official matters pertaining to Administration, Accounts and Stores. The detailed activities of these sections are described in the relevant Section of the Manual.
