Chongoni Rock Art Area is an attraction within the Dedza District in Central Malawi. It is one of the places to visit in Malawi. The place contains rock paintings created by ancient people from the Iron Age period (some experts believe that other drawings were of the Late Stone Age era). Anyway, these drawings were done on the hills of the Malawi Plateau and were recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site back in 2006. UNESCO inscribed it as Chongoni Rock-Art Area with criteria of iii and vi.
