Prisons in the US are quite habitable compared to most countries. In winter time, some homeless people commit crimes so they can get room and adequate heating for the winter. The major problems are prison gangs and rape. I recently read an article on private prisons in the US and how they make their money. Was really shocked. Government spends a lot on prisons that's why people have been advocating for the decriminalisation of certain acts, reducing some felonies to misdemeanours and for police to stop baiting people.
