I was wondering if anyone had thoughts relevant to progression of our culture as a whole, minus the many negatives of course...
With implementation of nanotechnology, we have materials strong enough to construct space elevators. The earth is rapidly running out of resources to support our consumption habits and we need to look at obtaining life resources from the heavens themselves. Those who say otherwise are denying their descendants the right to enjoy the same quality of life you are enjoying today. We have the intellectual mind power and ability to develop superstructures that were previously science fiction.
For those more advanced sci-fi readers, I have begun coming up with some pretty cool space engineering ideas. I would consider them pre-Tier I civilization technology. Type I Civilization would have full planetary control, II would have control over their entire solar system and III would have galactic coexistence as energy beings beyond the limits of physical laws. Without making progress towards these types of culture, we are walking towards a cliff that can't be climbed back up. While we continue to torch the skies and poison the oceans, the Earth itself bleeds oil into her own water...
Dyson balls, space battleships, the Death Star, lightsabres, the list goes on...
As our understanding of energy's laws progresses these far fetched ideas become slightly more possible with each second that passes. However, the same technology that creates energy is usually usable for weapons. Unfortunately energy is usually preferred in weapon form instead of being used as a communication utility like I am doing right now.
To make a long story short, these next few decades are going to be rough. I consider myself a visionary and an expert in many fields due to the significant time investment I have put into reading this type of stuff. I apologize for the wall of text, I don't text people "K" I text Potassium atomic symbol K.

I think while staring at a distant horizon, one might be missing the steps that are actually being made in that direction.

I see some focus towards it, but I feel the general mass doesn't concentrate on such long term designs and they are more inclined to worry about petty jobs?
I plan on applying at Space-X! :laugh: Tesla Motors would be awesome too...

people are too stupid for this to happen. I believe you watching Michio Kaku's videos if im not mistaken. We are a type 0 civilization... which I can perfectly see why.
To destine into the stars, we need to have.. Elementary and High schools that only deal/teach with that stuff. (Thats only if we take it that serious, which we never will.) They should be all majoring physics for something like this to be possible. Alot of people hate physics because they think it's too complex. In all reality, it's really not.
(Ever see a sci-fi movie where a being is born and thrown right into the game sort of speak? Let a human be born and then jump right into physics. He would be a master of all physics. space/time, motion, dimensions, you name it...)
We only live in a universe where every physical law is the same through out it. Why not study and know everything about it while we can. Were only here for about 80 years (you get my point).
To build, we have to want to build and if we want to build, we have to master it first. Physics!
Everything you have today involves physics. How does your computer work? Electrical signals, light, and chemicals. Physics! Your car. Some Thermodynamics, laws of motion and metal that was made in a star billions of years ago. Physics. Even the atoms in your glass of water are acient. We have to build things that obviously obey the laws of physics as well. Even your own body, you.. Has all these organs that obey the laws of physics in order for you to exist.
Everything is physics when you break it down enough.
