  1. A question on cPanel "public_ftp" folder.
  2. I have been working cPanel for long, however one thing I have seen as cPanel as evolved in last years is that when you setup a cPanel account, the default folders which are created under a cPanel account area somewhat as below

  18. My query is about the folder named "public_ftp" . I know its for anonymous FTP user upload..But have you guys ever used it before for any reasons? Out of 100% cPanel servers, all are secured by disabling root or anonymous user uploads, then why the folder still exists there in cPanel account creation and why has it not been marked as absolute by cPanel...?
  19. I also know I will get an answer from cPanel forums but still would like to know experts experience and advice on WHT
  20. Just a thought...

  24. Some folks will still use it, so it will remain. It's always disabled on any server we provision.
  25. Move over, coffee, this is a job for alcohol!
  26. The public_ftp folder is only used for Anonymous Logins via FTP and is placed there by default. For security reasons, Hosting providers are blocked logins by FTP that are anonymous.
  27. I remember it was using long time ago. But now, it does not serve any purpose. You can delete the folder if you wish since it will not be used.

  30. Yes, we can delete..but my query is, why does cPanel company itself mark is absolute and remove it from further cPanel version?

  34. ^^ cPanel is always slow to make this type of change. Anyone that wants it disabled can do so (as they should). There will always be those fringe cases where someone somewhere is still using an old feature. This is why the FP extensions lived on for as long as they did.
