For the initial years of the age of smartphones, Whatsapp has dominated the mobile messenger market because of its remarkable features. But things will be changing for Whatsapp as a new app is gaining popularity and solid ground. WeChat has almost the same features with Whatsapp but only better, bigger, and brighter. This is fairly true when you consider the 300 million people using the app around the world since its release in January 2011. Well, take a look at these phenomenal features only available in WeChat! Drift bottle We all know about the mystery of drift bottle. You write a note, slide it in a bottle, and let it drift through the vast ocean --- never knowing who will pick your message. But if you are too tired or just do not have the time to do that, you can simply use WeChat and use a voice or text message and send it randomly. Someone around the world will eventually find your message and the magic starts! You, as the sender of the message will remain anonymous unless you want to reveal personal information to your new found contact. Emoticons We really have trouble showing our emotions when it comes to chatting. Since they do not really hear our voice but only read our words, we might convey a message we never meant to convey. But WeChat is by far the best messenger platform to express the right emotion the best way possible. How is this done? To start with, there are many emoticons that you can choose from the collections provided by WeChat. Then, you can download more emoticons to further increase your ability to show emotion through words. You can even choose a picture of yours from your album and use it as your own unique emoticons! Group Chat The advantage of WeChat over Whatsapp is the maximum number of people you can chat with. WeChat allows you to chat with a group consisting of as many 40 people as possible. Unlike Whatsapp which only allows 30 people maximum. You can simply upload pictures and share them with selected people. Shake Interestingly, shaking your phone will allow you to find other WeChat users. If you are looking for someone to chat with or simply you are a newbie in WeChat, you can just shake your phone and discover new friends locally and globally. Social Connect Obviously, those who want to be successful in marketing their product must also connect to social media. And thankfully, WeChat did so. You can stay connected with your Facebook friends while using WeChat. Since the developer of WeChat is from China, they also use QQ, the biggest social networking website in China, to reach more people. Video call Video call has been made even easier with WeChat. By just a simple click or tap of a button, you can simply add face-to-face video calls as seamlessly as possible. After that you can tap again the button and let your recorded voice message be sent to your friends. Web WeChat This is one of my most favorite features of WeChat. At first I thought that I can only chat with my friends who are using a smartphone. Later, when I tried to learn more about WeChat, I discovered that even those who access the internet through their desktop computers can even chat with me! More to come Like every successful platforms and apps, Tencent has more to offer in the near future. These include increasing the compatibility of WeChat with other types of smartphones. They are also planning to increase the number of languages available so that more people will be able to use WeChat. As of now, there are 16 languages supported by WeChat. The competition is tough when it comes to mobile apps and this does not exempt WeChat. There are other similar software that will continue to rival WeChat such as ChatOn, KakaoTalk, Viber, and of course, Whatsapp. Not to mention other software that might newly emerge in the future.
