This notion isn't really that far off. These are some of the reasons why:
- If you research for Bitcoin's history, it was basically introduced to the Internet by mystery figure and programmer named Satoshi Nakamoto, through a link to a paper detailing a peer to peer system that would use digital coins. But up until now, the name Satoshi Nakamoto remains unknown and if it is indeed a name of a person or a GROUP of people.
- The purpose of bitcoins is to bypass banks or the authorities of any state. Thus it may be thought of as a currency that transcends any state or constitution --- making it a viable single currency.
Will bitcoin be the One World Currency? Or will bitcoin just pave the way for the One to come?
