I'm excluding Bart and Serena's Dad from this list cause they were on incomparable psychopath levels. He pretended to be ~the cool parent~ while being the most authoritarian figure on the entire show. He also expected his son Dan to act with higher morals than he himself did. He was jealous, bossy, and vindictive. And all he ever fed his children were lily and rufus child. In the beginning of the show he was okay, but I started hating him when he forbid Jenny from working. If it wasn't for him, her career really did have a chance of taking off. He was being protective and wanted her to finish school, but c'mon, his daughter had already found an amazing job, isn't that why people go to school in the first place. She messed up her own career. First with Eleanor then by getting with an impetuous child and trying to screw her over. Well, for a broader education too. That has its virtues, especially if you somehow end up not wanting to be in fashion or having some problem with that job that leaves a stain on you. No one in the show supported her career whatsoever and when Agnes was fucking her up she only did because Jenny was trying to move on without her and actually be a professional. Besides she was trying to get home schooled, so she didn't quit school altogether. Her problem was her lily and rufus child narcissistic parents who didn't give a damn about their children and only about their relationship. Her mother left her and her father became a mascot to Lily. No one in the show gave a damn about her, not even Dan or Eric. She became a brat by the end and I couldn't stand her anymore, but she was talented and I think she would have succeeded if she had a support system. He let his 14-year old daughter run the streets of New York, from Brooklyn to Manhattan, at all hours of the day and night and then was shocked when she fell into trouble. Later, he just became a kept, ball-less, cretin when he married Lilly. Lily and rufus child didn't pursue his music. He let the gallery go. William Was the only character I managed to hate all the way throughout the 6 seasons. Every other character I had liked at one stage, even the evil ones. Lily was also terrible imo. I don't know about you but if rather have Rufus as my father than to have someone like Lily who missed out on the first ~15 years of her child's life and do things like she did although Serena was a dumb cunt and was in the wrong a lot of the time. Lola's mother Carol Lily's sister is also up there. But you have to remember, that's a big part about the show. The whole show ended by saying that the Upper East Side is a weird place where Children act like Adults and Adults act like Children. The reason I think Gossip Girl is such an amazing show is because it all makes sense when you hear the final few words from Dan in the last episode when he explains why he did everything. Up until they had him get with ivy I always thought 95% of the time he was a good grounding of morals against all the debauchery everyone else was up to. Yeah he probably should've watched over Jenny more but I always found myself agreeing with Rufus and really feeling for him. Having to watch your children to get sucked into another world only to then rekindle a romance with a woman in that world and then have your entire social circle always against you, I always felt bad for him.
