  1. Parmadan. It is basically a forest on the bank of Ichamati river. This forest, comprising of appox 60 Sq. KM area on the bank of Ichamati river, has been named as Bibhuti Bhusan Wild Life Sanctuary. The immortal Bengali writer Bibhuti Bhusan's ancestral house is located nearby (village Barakpur, near Bongaon) and hence this forest is renamed as a respect to the writer. Though the forest has been declared as Wild Life Sanctuary, don't expect lot of wild life here. You will mainly see deers, peacocks, snakes, various types of birds etc. The place is near Bongaon, North 24 Parganas, appox 30 KM from the town. You can reach there by any dedicated car, or else reach Bongaon by bus or by train and then take an Auto or bus to reach a place called Naldungri (I hope, I could remember it properly) and then from there by Rickshaw Van to the Forest. There was a Forest Bungalow, which tourist can use for night stay. Though visitors go there mainly on a day trip (we also did so), I reckon a night's stay would not be a bad idea.
