Have you ever felt bad about doing something that made you feel happy? Have people in your life made you feel guilty about things that aren't your fault? It is a wonderful characteristic to have the humility and decency to recognize and apologize for our faults.
We are raised to behave, be courteous and say sorry so that we don't hurt others and that's fine, but what happens if we allow it to run out of control. Have you ever thought of why you are always apologizing even when you are not at fault? If you have a bad tendency of apologizing excessively for things that shouldn't be held against you, then it's time to make a change.
There are certain things in life that you absolutely should never have to apologize for and these include;
1. Being yourself;
Don't ever turn down who you are to fit in with other people or to fit in, in what you think the society wants to see from you. There is no need to fit in when you are born to stand out. If there is anyone who doesn't love you for who you are, those people aren't meant to be in your life. Therefore, you should never apologize for being yourself and for being the real you.
2. Following your dreams;
You should never have to apologize for having to follow your biggest dreams and goals in life. If there is anyone who tries to discourage you from this journey, maybe they aren't for you at this stage in your life. Negativity is a virus and a dream killer. You should never be made to feel that living the life of your dreams is wrong or selfish. Settling for a life you don't want is an ultimate act of selfishness because you are displeasing yourself and killing your dreams just to please others. Be the inspiration you want to see in your own life.
3. Living in your Truth;
Living in your truth means standing for things that may be uncomfortable but things that you know are right. It means being honest even when you know the outcome won't be what you want at the moment. The truth always leads to the best destination in the end, therefore you should never apologize for living in your truth.
4. You should never apologize for your imperfections;
No one on this earth is extremely perfect, we all have imperfections and you should never feel like you need to hide them or apologize for having them. You should always be committed to improving yourself, FOR YOURSELF. Don't do it because of other people's demands or expectations. Those who want you will accept you for who you are and for their example they will inspire you to become the best version of yourself.
5. Say No when you need to;
Many people take up many tasks because they don't know how to say No! This makes you displease yourself to please others. After all, you are afraid of how they will feel when you say No! Learn to say No firmly without any negativity and learn to say Yes to only those things you genuinely like and want to do. Therefore, you should never apologize for saying no to things that will affect you or make you displease yourself.
6. Don't apologize for how you spend your money;
Many people believe that they have the right to judge how you spend your money, but your money is yours and you should never feel bad or apologize for how you spend your money. If you earned it, if you worked for it, or if you saved it then it is left for you to decide how you spend your money.
