  1. INFERTILITY AND BARRENNESS
  2. Some of the major threats to a successful marriage in recent times are infertility and barrenness. We may want to ask; were there cases like this during the time of the Rosuul and the companions of truth? If at all there was, how did the Rosuul handle it ?
  3. Let's take a look at the household of the Rosuul (SAW) by examining each of the mothers of the believers.
  4. Sawdaa: she had no child for the prophet and no child in her previous marriage.
  5. 'Aa'ishah: she was married to the prophet as a virgin and had no child for the prophet.
  6. Hafsah: she had no child in her first marriage and had no child in her marriage to the prophet.
  7. Umm salaama: she had 4 issues in her first marriage and had no child for the prophet.
  8. Zaynab: she was first married to the prophet's adopted son, zayd and had no child in either marriages.
  9. Juwayriyyah: she had no child in either of her two marriages.
  10. Umm Habeebah: she had one daughter in her first marriage and no child for the Prophet.
  11. Safiyyah: she was married twice before her reversion and had no child in all her marriages.
  12. Maymoonah: she was married before her reversion and had no child in both marriages.
  13. Most certainly, the prophet was not infertile as he had children from our mother, Khadeejah. Yet, nine of his wives had no child for him. It is so disheartening these days that people place so much emphasis on a woman's ability to bear children. A barren woman is been relegated and stigmatized by the family members (both hers and her in-laws) and the society at large. The noble wives of the Prophet had no child and it didn't make them less of a muslimah.
  14. My dear people, barrenness does not mean she was previously immodest. It doesn't mean she's cursed. It never meant she wouldn't do well in life. It only means she is being tested by her creator. Perhaps, it may be a blessing in disguise. May Allah bless us all with the fruit of the womb and make our children the comfort of our eyes.
