  1. Supa's Noob Guide to ASiCMiNER Block Erupter USB Bitcoin Mining (Cross Platform (Windows/Linux/Mac):
  2. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________
  3. 1. Download and install this driver (http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/Pages/USBtoUARTBridgeVCPDrivers.aspx) to make your ASCiCMiNER Block Erupters show up as COM devices.
  4. 2. Plug in your USB Block Erupters. If using a USB Hub, it must be a powered hub. Each erupter requires at least 0.5A at 5V. Depending on the hub, you may only be able to run 3-4 Erupters.
  5. 3. Download CGMiner 3.1.1 (Version 3.1.1 has the best compatibility when mining with ASiCMiNER Block Erupter USB Devices) @ http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/3.1/cgminer-3.1.1-windows.zip
  6. 4. Extract CGMiner 3.1.1 to a folder of your choice
  7. 5. Open the folder you extracted CGMiner 3.1.1 to and find "cgminer-nogpu.exe". Right click on it and Select "Send to Desktop > Create Shortcut". This will make a shortcut to cgminer-nogpu.exe on your Desktop.
  8. 6. Find the cgminer-nogpu.exe shortcut on your Desktop. Right click it and go to properties. Click inside the target field and press the End button on your keyboard. This will go to the very end of the file path. Press spacebar on your keyboard and copy and paste the following."-o http://yourfavouritepool:theportyourfavouritepoolmineson" ie "http://mmpool.bitparking.com:3333" as it is my favourite <3 doublec press spacebar again and copy paste the following without the quotes "--icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100" now comes a tiny bit of work. Press spacebar again and type in -S followed to the COM port your ASiCMiNER Block Erupter USB is running on. To find this out press Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers > Scroll down to the very bottom of the page and you will see a device under Unspecified labeled "Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge (COM(this number will be different for everyone)) mine run on COM3 so I added \\.\COM3. Whatever COM port your ASiCMiNER Block Erupter USB(s) are running on is what you'll need to add to the pathline.
  9. If I just blew your mind it's actually quite simple..
  10. My Block Erupter is running on COM3 and my prefered pool is Bitparking MMPool so...
  11. The pathline looks like this...
  12. cgminer-nogpu.exe" -o http://mmpool.bitparking.com:3333 -u BlockErupterUSB -p rocks --icarus-options 115200:1:1
  13. --icarus-timing 3.0=100 -S \\.\COM3
  14. NOTE: Only Windows Users need to select the COM Ports! Linux and Mac users do not need to do this!
  15. 7. Now that the proper shortcut is made , the drivers are installed and the COM port for your Erupters is selected you're good to go!
  16. 8. Double Click your CGMiner 3.3.1 Shortcut on your Desktop and Start Hashing away!
  17. *WARNING THE ERUPTERS GET VERY HOT! PROPER COOLING IS A MUST! GET YOURSELF A BOX FAN A USB BOX FAN OR A BENDABLE FAN POINTED DIRECTLY OVER YOUR ERUPTERS! WITHOUT PROPER COOLING YOU CAN AND WILL FRY YOUR ERUPTERS! I AM NOT HELD RESPONSIBLE IF YOU DO SO HASH WITHOUT COOLING AT YOUR OWN RISK!
  18. Cheers,
  19. Supa
