Need Cloud (or VPS) server recommendation for an adult tube - Many questions!
I'm gonna need some help here.
Been reading and contacting hosts for several days now. Some hosts respond, some don't at all. Even big names.

Those who respond are very limited in their replies and simply point me to their webpage with several VPS offers.
None has helped me and answered my specific questions so far.
I've had plenty of hosts in the past but cloud hosting is new to me. And confusing.
My first question would be: do i need it?
What i'm planning to host is the following:
An strictly legal adult tube, only with content provided by affiliate programs. So no copyright issues.
I want to host everything myself. No embedding.
It's a small niche so i don't expect tons of traffic. Probably a few k visitors a day max.
As i will be hosting the videos myself i need space. Lots of it obviously.
And i need speed. No 10 seconds waiting for a video to load.
Do i need a cloud for this? Why not a regular VPS?
What worries me most is harddisk space. According to some calculation on several websites the amount of harddrive space i need would cost me 100's if not 1000's per month.
How do other big tubes do this? My site will be very small compared to some of the big sites out there. Are they paying 20k a month just for harddisk space or what?
Is there any advantage to having a VPS or Cloud when it comes to uploading your content. Again, how do the big sites do this when you have 1000's of files with huge sizes. How do they get them from server A to server B?
Any help would be highly appreciated. Any host suggestions as well.

The big sites do it by not needing to take care of the storage and delivery part. They use CDNs. A CDN, which also offers storage, allows you to offload the video (and other assets like images, css, js) storage and delivery off your server, and let it only deal with the website itself. It also makes sure that the content loads faster from different locations, so less people would ever end up waiting for 10 seconds for anything to load.
You don't need to spend 100s on storage either, unless you are in need of object storage. Regular storage is times cheaper.
Nowadays a VPS is considered cloud, mainly for marketing purposes. The difference between a real cloud and a simple VPS is not in the speed, but in the high availability and the ability to scale beyond the single physical machine your VPS is on. The latter usually requires custom logic in your website's code so that it could take advantage of this. Depending on if you need these extra features, you may search for a cloud provider that offers them, but they come at a cost. A regular VPS is what all of our customers in your industry are using, and it works well for them.

Hi, thanks for your answer. That sorta helped me but not a lot.
I still don't get the storage part. Somewhere someone needs to upload tons and tons of content. As far as i can tell when i rent a VPS i have limited space and if i want more i need to pay more. And if i say i need 1000's of gigs they will quote me crazy prices.
What am i missing here? Where can i go and say i need to upload 1000's of movies, need tons of space.
For 1000's movies and several TB's of space, your best choice is several Dedicated Servers.
A regular VPS is what all of our customers in your industry are using, and it works well for them.

And this is what i'm running into every day.
It seems to be impossible to get a clear answer. I read so much conflicting info, it's just crazy.
There are 1000's and 1000's of tubes out there and nobody can tell me what i need to start a relatively small tube.
Truth is many adult tubes rely as mentioned before on CDNs or affiliated to the mayor tubes, so using the major tubes videos you dont need the hundreds or thousands GBs....
