  1. Chelsea are ready to offer Cesc Fabregas a new contract to ward off interest in the midfielder from Manchester United, according to reports in the British media.
  2. The Times is reporting that the Blues are keen to offer the 30-year-old a new deal to extend his current contract, which has around 18 months left to run.
  3. The same report says that the length of Fabregas’ new contract has not yet been decided but the player himself would reportedly be keen to sign a new two-year deal with the west London club.
  4. However, the story also claims that Chelsea’s general policy is to only offer one-year contracts to players over the age of 30, so Fabregas may have to settle for a shorter deal.
  5. The same report claims that Fabregas has been touted as a possible transfer target for Manchester United in recent months.
  6. Jose Mourinho was the man who brought Fabregas to Stamford Bridge from Barcelona back in the summer of 2014.
  7. However, it remains to be seen whether the Blues would be willing to let another key midfield player move to Old Trafford after they sold Nemanja Matic to the Red Devils in the summer.
  8. Chelsea host Manchester United at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Sunday.
