To me, intelligence determines how you perceive and comprehend knowledge.
If we're talking about you as a whole, intellectuality is the word IMO.

Maybe you're right.
I just feel intelligence is more theoretical thinking while intellectual is practical, i consider myself practical so i guess its my ego trying to convince myself something.

The reason I bring this up is we were talking about this in my creative writing class
I feel that intelligence, especially among college students, is how well people can pay attention in class
Everybody views themselves as pretty smart and intelligent usually. Yet we have no clear definition of the word

There are probably a dozen or more different types of intelligence though. Some people can be very logical and have an excellent memory but have next to no emotional intelligence, while others can be the complete opposite. There are any number of different types and combinations of intelligences.
What most all types of intelligence seem have in common though, is that they suggest a deeper than average understanding of something.

That's certainly a facet of intelligence, but what if somebody is really smart but can't pay attention to save their life? Does that make them unintelligent? What about autistic savants who have incredible memories and math skills but no people skills or even the ability to fully take care of themselves sometimes. Are they not intelligent? They exhibit a deep understanding of whatever their obsession is.

I think your last sentence is pretty clever. It's very broad but just broad enough. Not overspecific either
And yeah, I hear people label others as dumb. I just feel there is no proper basis for thosee kinds of claims. Intelligence is too broad of a concept

Are you saying I'm trying to avoid the question or that you agree with me? You're right; intelligence is a very broad and varied spectrum.
It's a hard concept to define because it has to be defined in so many different ways. You can't just talk to a person and say they aren't intelligent, because it's possible they are actually very smart. They may just have crippling social anxiety and that may be making them uncomfortable enough to not seem very intelligent.

Hhahahaha I'm saying I agree with you, and you came up with a good definition for intelligence
And yeah, I see exactly with what you are saying
These days, intelliegence is synomnymous with academic or career success

I knew an extremely ditzy blonde who had a hell of a memory and attention span and did very well in school, yet when it came to things like wit, perceptiveness and discernment she was very slow. I also had a friend who had a brilliant memory and attention span, he was like a walking encyclopedia. But when it came to things like common sense, he was dumb at times. He'd always complain about his insomnia yet would drink 1 liter bottles of coke at night.

I think intelligence is measurable only by creativity and that intellectual pursuits are a certain kind of creativity.

intelligence has to do with how much stickiness your mind is capable of.
wisdom is how suitably you can let go of things.
without intelligence wisdom may be hard to detect.
without wisdom intelligence is silly
