Upside to shopping here: trendy items at really inexpensive prices. Upside to selling: they've bought more of my clothing than Buffalo Exchange or Second Time Around. Downside to Shopping here: I hate the way the shoes are organized. While they have a larger shoe selection than most consignment shops, their shoes are sorted play doh closet near me color instead of size like their clothes. The majority of the brands in here are mall brands F21, Old Navy, Guess, Target, Gap, JustFab,Aldo so nothing really high end or designer like what you might find at consignment shops on Magazine. Also, for some reason there is always an extended wait to sell. Through the years of me selling there. I have never gotten in and out. But, they are pretty good about sorting your items and having them and your cash ready for pick up the next day. I politely declined the offer and took my things, i then got in my car and realized i only have 4 out of the 5 items. Honestly i wasn't surprised because i read a review of this happening but wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. I went back and told the employees. Honestly i dont care they wouldve gave me 2. The girls running this place do not know what they are doing. They were sorting through my clothes and when they were done they told me they don't buy chiffon, first off, there's chiffon all throughout the store, and second one of the shirts she picked out was chiffon. Also, the place is a complete mess. I don't think I will be back. This place is a joke. Not to mention when you drop off clothes to sell and go back into the store be prepared to see those items being sold for at least 3x the amount they paid you for them. You're better off selling your stuff on Poshmark or Mercari. I am a huge fan of Plato's Closet, having shopped at and sold to both the Baton Rouge location and out-of-state locations for a few years now. I am used to the Baton Rouge staff, who are all incredibly friendly, professional and helpful. I was in the area and decided to stop by the Metairie location on my way home to Baton Rouge, and was disappointed to have a different experience regarding the staff at this location. It was super uncomfortable to overhear, and it was clear that whatever was happening in her personal life was too important to wait, because she was telling her coworkers about this while ringing up customers. Imagine if someone being rung up had past weight issues and had to hear her comments. Anyways, I continued shopping, made my selections, and approached the register to pay. Neither of the three women at the counter acknowledged my presence, continuing on with their gossiping. I waited a few seconds, then interrupted to ask which of them could ring me up. One of them quietly scoffed at me and another mumbled that she could ring me up. Her name was Angela, and I am fairly certain that this was the staff member who was talking about her relationship, because it was clear that she was in a very bad mood. She would not make eye contact with me and made me feel like I was not welcome there. I am a member of the Plato's Closet rewards program, and wanted to be able to enter in my phone number to get my rewards points for the purchase, but the monitor was broken. I asked Angela if I could enter in my information, and she just nodded to the broken monitor and again, mumbling told me to enter it in there. I was initially uncomfortable telling her it was broken because it was clear she was not in a good mood. Overall, it was a really unpleasant interaction, and I have no desire to shop in that location again. It's not to say that everyone who works there needs to put on a fake act, but politeness goes a long way. The staff here could learn a thing or two from the Baton Rouge staff, because shopping there is always so enjoyable, and this was the complete opposite. I almost never have any luck shopping here as everything is like it shrank in the wash and thats why its there. The only reason why I gave this store 2 stars and not one is that my husband seems play doh closet near me have great luck in the guys section. He has been able to find some nice polos and shorts. Came here to sell two bags full of clothes. Most of which, unfortunately on my part, were barely worn. Also brought in 3 heels and 1 pair of flats-all were literally never even worn. I decided to wait and look around. By looking at the quality of the clothing I thought for sure I would have no issues with them buying my things. There were overly worn clothes, some I picked up had very musty smells to them, buttons missing, zippers broken. Anyways, after over a half hour I walked up with a couple cheap finds thinking I could exchange them for what I brought in. My name wasn't on the board not was it called, and I walked by multiple times and never saw my clothes being looked at. They said they didn't fit the style of the store and were too worn. I think by those stores popularity and the general age of your clients you would be wrong. I will sell my clothes elsewhere and never look twice at this place again. Maybe if I brought in Charlotte Russe or forever 21 or non name brands items I would've had some luck. I love Plato's Closet but this one is a freaking joke. The cashier told me it was a 45 min wait, which didn't bother me, so I decided to run a few errands. Do better, complete waste of time. After walking in I immediately walked back out to read the sign. I had to make sure I wasn't in goodwill. The clothes were that raggedy. I'm familiar with name brands and quality clothing as it is my career. Being that I have over 185k followers on Instagram specifically for my style I think platos made a mistake today. First of all the workers look like they went back to 2009 to get worn out clothes from 2006. I'll admit the top portion of the bag was just some free people, American apparel, anthropology, and some mall clothes. I'm almost certain they didn't get to the bottom. My Gucci swimsuit with matching coverup was left untouched which seems strange given the season. When I returned to the store an employee informed me my clothes were not in style aka raggedy enough for this swap meet of a store. I will never be back. This place runs annoying radio ads constantly, so I was able to remember their name and look up where they were. Given that it's in one of the most hellish parts of Metairie traffic wise, I don't picture myself coming out here again. They took one of my polos, although they paid me significantly less than what Buffalo Exchange and Funky Monkey did. I didn't like that I had to fill out an info form before she would even give me a quote; this differed from the process at the other stores I went to. Buying wise, I agree with Marielle that they cater to teenage girls more than anyone else. Because of this and the location, I don't think It's worth the drive out here. I love this place both for selling and buying. I dont go in with big expectations of getting paid what i paid for something because its used. But, they pay you fairly. I can say i have never left with money because i buy new stuff before i leave the store lol because they have so much to offer. If they can do one thing to improve their place it would better parking. I came here to sell my gently used and in style clothes. They will tell you that they will write your name on a board when they are finished sorting through your clothes, but they don't use it. Save your time and take your clothes elsewhere. Call me crazy, but who wants a used forever 21 dress. Don't those burst into flames after the 3rd time wearing it anyway?. Play doh closet near me is a joke that they even take back those cheap-o brands. They definitely gear towards a younger crowd so maybe that works for them. The staff seems annoyed and bothered that people are in the store. It looked like they didn't even look at my clothes and as if they had just thrown them around in the bag. Why are you not buying anything?. This place has cheap, flimsy clothes that they sell for the almost the same prices as Forever 21 or just about. About two weeks ago, my sister and I went in with at least four bags worth of good clothes. The clothes were all up-to-date with tags on them. The ladies at the front desk seems aggravated and agitated from the moment we walked in. I think I made maybe 13 dollars at the most for maybe four pieces of clothing. I rather bring my play doh closet near me to goodwill where at least my clothes will be given to someone who's grateful for it. By the way, I'm sure there's other thrift stores that have nicer people, better clothes and better prices!!. You can do way better than the rude and ungrateful staff at Plato's Closet. I wish they make some changes because they play doh closet near me out on business!. Never going to this location ever again. I've been to Platos in other states and never had any problems. I took in a bag of clothes trendy and cute with a few accessories. One of them was a Anne Klein watch I didn't wear anymore. I told the girl to take the watch off I wanted to keep it. This location doesn't know anything about buying merchandise. Upside to selling: they've bought more of my clothing than Buffalo Exchange or Second Time Around. Downside to Shopping here: I hate the way the shoes are organized. While they have a larger shoe selection than most consignment shops, their shoes are sorted by color instead of size like their clothes.
