The year 2021 is almost gone with it's whole twists, turns and drama. It is very important to know the year (2021) was challenging, yet blessed in some aspects of it's own.
However, we are moving closer to 2022 at a very fast pace, so we have to start thinking forward as to what and how to make the new year a better one.
I know that most people already have their to-do lists, new year resolutions, new year plans, etc. It is still very important to know some of personal skills that one must possess to make the new year a beautiful, and en enjoyable one.
Some of these skills are listed below:
1. Communication:
A huge part of everything we do daily is communicating information (either sending or receiving information).
The communication style might be verbal, written, or via any other route from practical demonstrations to artistic interpretation – whatever gets your point across. In 2022, we have to arm ourselves with the right and most recent information we can gather so as not to be left out of the moving train.
2. Patience:
People learn and assimilate things/information at all different rates. In 2022, if you'll have to explain something seven times in seven different ways before your message goes across without being misunderstood that’s just part of the job.
And when faced with challenging behaviour, you need to stay calm and patient and not lose your temper. Especially in our places of work, patience would be key to having a better working experience with our bosses and with other members of staff.
3. Creativity:
People learn best when they’re doing something fun and interesting. It’s up to you to be creative in your approach in everything we do. In 2022, we must understand that our creativity prowess would be a great tool to making the year a very successful one.
People would queue and pay for your creativity. Trust me.
4. Enthusiasm:
To have a very successful 2022, your enthusiasm must be infectious. If you love your job, business, and hustle in general, you must be able to show the people around you how enthusiastic you are about your money making hustles.
2022 is a year you mustn't joke with. Do what you love, and do you.
5. Confidence:
People can sense fear, low confidence and low self esteem. Your confidence would help you when you’re addressing and talking to people, whether your listeners are kids or adults.
A lot of education sector jobs and other jobs that requires constant contact and discussion with people involves public speaking, so confidence is a must.
6. Dedication:
There’s no denying that our jobs can be tough and demanding at times. If you’re dedicated to helping your business succeed, you’ll be able to keep up your energy levels and avoid getting discouraged.
In 2022, your dedication level must be on a 100.
7. Conflict Resolution:
In 2022, you would be faced with some conflicts, either personal, academic, social, emotional, spiritual (not village people o), and even financial conflicts.
If you can defuse tense situations before they explode, you be able to handle it when people upset you and upset each other or test your authority as a boss (if you're a business owner). Face 2022 like a man or a woman of strong will.
8. Organisation Skill:
In 2022, you must be organized. You must have your own unique way of organizing people or things to go on smoothly.
If you're a business owner, you must have this much needed skill so as to have a very organized staff and organized work environment.
9. Leadership:
If you're not a natural-born leader, don't worry, leadership is a skill you can develop. In 2022, your leadership skill would surely be put to the test.
So, as an employee or an employer, you must take up your own role as though your everything depends on it.
10. Adaptability:
Working in Nigeria can present challenges on a daily basis. While these keep the career exciting, a certain amount of adaptability is very important.
You may have a great business plan, only to realize you need to switch gears depending on the challenges you're about to face. So, in 2022, you must be able to adapt and succeed to everything that comes and you.
11. Honesty:
Honesty is a very important skill that you must possess if you're to have a relaxing 2022. I know that our society in recent times do not appreciate honesty, but for your conscience sake, you must up your game in honesty in the new year.
12. Punctuality:
Punctuality is the soul of every business. So, in the new year, learn to meet up with appointments on time.
Some doors of opportunity do not open twice once they've been shut due to your lateness and inability to meet up with appointments.
13. Networking Skills:
We are always surrounded with people; either at home or at our workplaces. Networking with people around you would help you to advance your career and give you access to more job opportunities.
The more you network with and around people, the more you'll grow and learn how to make lasting connections. Networking will also help you develop and improve your skill set and stay on top of the latest trends in your industry and job market.

So, these are just 13 very important skills I have put together to help you and I have a wonderful year ahead. It's very good to make new year resolutions, but it's very important to stick to your resolutions.
