  14. I'm currently hosted by Flywheel was very good, but I would have to pay 14$/month in the future to continue doing so, and I find that amount excessive.
  15. What's a quality host for Wordpress, and how much should I budget for it?
  16. thanks!
  17. Hi there First I want to say there is and will never be a "best" host only the best host for you if you could please share your current plan specs and what you are looking fir si we can best guide you bare in mind that providers here can not self promote or answer questions directly related to their own services outside of PM that said anyone here should be able to help the offers thread would be a great start
  18. I'm currently hosted by Flywheel was very good, but I would have to pay 14$/month in the future to continue doing so, and I find that amount excessive.

  20. thanks!
  21. It is not expensive if you are getting good specs for your site. If you want performance, there is always a price for that and it can't be cheap.
  22. Quality comes with expensive hardware and network.
  23. in order to talk about pricing though we need to know your current spec 14 is very reasonable depending on service level
  24. $7-$10/mo can get you some high performance hosting for WordPress but may not have all the bells and whistles such as staging. For an AIO with all bells and whistles I would say you were pretty much bang on at $14
  25. bare in mind that providers here can not self promote or answer questions directly related to their own services outside of PM
  26. PM is also out. The only place for that is the advertising section.
  27. I thought if the user reaches out via PM it is ok to answer iniquities ?

  32. Hi There,
  33. Within your post, more information is needed, and some questions from others have been missed.
  34. 1. I would agree with comments that price determines (or at least should) on the service you are getting, which at that price, is a starting level towards more advance services.
  35. 2. What type of content? More images and less text, or vice versa?
  36. 3. Issues with security or bots?
  37. 4. Lots of plugins?
  38. 5. How old is the website?
  39. If the website is new or has a low monthly average, then a quality Shared host would work. You would have to be comfortable with taking on some of the security and updates yourself, but you would save money by not paying for more than you need.
  40. If the website has a higher amount of traffic, is a source of income, or you spend more time with content and have little time to manage it, then there are hosts that are managed, but it will cost more than you're currently paying, and considered a valuable investment.
  41. Once you analyze those questions, then pick about 5 or 6 hosts from here (WHT) that fit your needs and budget. Contact all of them with every question you could think of. Search for reviews on here about them, and then narrow down your choices. When you do pick one, only pay monthly until you have a level of trust with them. Many will pay 1-3 years ahead for the promotional price, but then realize in a few months (or after the refund period) that the host was not a good fit for them.
  42. I thought if the user reaches out via PM it is ok to answer iniquities ?
  43. It certainly isn't.
  44. Do not contact any member to suggest your product or service who is not explicitly expecting you to contact them from an advertising forum post. If you glean information from anywhere other than the advertising forums and use that information to contact someone and present an offer, it will affect your WHT account standing.

  54. Thanks,
  55. This is not for the main website - the main website is on high performance servers worldwide on rackspace.
  56. This is just for the blog, which sits on a subdomain. The company which operates my main website doesn't allow wordpress on their servers because of constant hack attacks.
  57. It is a low traffic blog, but I want good page load times.
  58. There will be one or two images per post.
  59. The blog is on the Genesis framework with a Genesis theme.
  60. Very few plugins (5) very few widgets (2)
  61. The price point you indicated is what you should expect to pay for good hosting. If you go too far below, you're not going to get very good support.
  62. I need to move my blog, and I need a great Wordpress host with quick page loads and short response times.
  63. I'm currently hosted by Flywheel was very good, but I would have to pay 14$/month in the future to continue doing so, and I find that amount excessive.

  65. thanks!
  66. Hosting wordpress website is a art I would say...requires a lot of tweaks and tuning both from WordPress and the server root level itself.
  67. You should choice a server which can support caching like nginx, varnish, pagespeed. And at the same time the server should have a proper TTFB.
  68. Not a big deal with it though it matters in performance improvements.
  69. Go for a small VPS server which you can configure and tweak at the server root level to improve the performance. Sure ensure you see host which is providing good SSD disk, atleast DDR 3 RAM, good network port speed, no overloading on the servers, good caching apps for the server.
  70. Just a thought...
  71. As WordPress is a standard Open Source app and it is not a rocket science to host it. When you say WordPress Hosting, it is important to receive a support from a company that has an extensive knowledge of managing, developing and troubleshooting WordPress installations. I would also suggest you to use any company that delivers storage service for its WordPress (or Shared Hosting services) from a storage area network built with SSDs. Other than that, it is up to you to choose a provider. There are many quality ones presented at wHT.
  72. Thanks
  73. You're Welcome
  74. This is not for the main website - the main website is on high performance servers worldwide on rackspace.
  75. This is just for the blog, which sits on a subdomain. The company which operates my main website doesn't allow wordpress on their servers because of constant hack attacks.
  76. Understood and very common for companies to now have a separate WordPress website on a sub-domain to help increase their social connection. Also common for some hosts to not want to host WordPress due to the work behind keeping it secure.
  77. It is a low traffic blog, but I want good page load times.
  78. As suggested, look for a host with SSD. Since it is low traffic, then a reputable Shared host. Find out if they offer any form of caching on their server, or looking into a good caching plugin. Those elements will help decrease the loading time.
  79. There will be one or two images per post.
  80. The blog is on the Genesis framework with a Genesis theme.
  81. Very few plugins (5) very few widgets (2)
  82. Good. Make sure images are optimized, either before being uploaded through a photo editor with a "Save to web" option, or through a plugin that optimized images while uploading. Keep the theme and plugins updated, and because it's a few, load times should not be an issue with the right host.

  84. As WordPress is a standard Open Source app and it is not a rocket science to host it.
  85. Sock and Buskin
  86. the thing is any modern hosting platform should be able to handle WordPress in my personal opinion WordPress hosting is very limiting and often does not give you full control of your website and often lacks cpanel account which could lead to problems if you wish to move or need help with issues or wish to move later no offense meant to any of my fellow members who may offer such services
  87. here is WordPress most basic requirements
  88. https://en-ca.wordpress.org/about/requirements/
  89. following these you need to worry about space and bandwidth
  90. Nimbus hosting specialized in Wordpress basically all kinds of managed hosting. Can possibly give them a try although they're are many cheaper options.
  91. How much visitors you have hourly . If you are hosting just a one website with a few number of visitors . You should be able to fine a good host at a reliable rate.
  92. I need to move my blog, and I need a great Wordpress host with quick page loads and short response times.
  93. I'm currently hosted by Flywheel was very good, but I would have to pay 14$/month in the future to continue doing so, and I find that amount excessive.
  94. What's a quality host for Wordpress, and how much should I budget for it?
  95. thanks!
  96. $14/month is not excessive for quality hosting if you expect any sort of decent support
  97. 14$ for good proven service, and want to move away.
  98. Are you willing to sacrifice on quality?
  99. If you want to save cost, and if you can, manage own vps.
  100. I'm currently hosted by Flywheel was very good, but I would have to pay 14$/month in the future to continue doing so, and I find that amount excessive.
  101. What's a quality host for Wordpress, and how much should I budget for it?
  102. $14.00/mo, of course
  103. PM is also out. The only place for that is the advertising section.
  104. Yeah it gets a little complicated, but I believe if someone asks a direct question to a provider either publicly or through PM we can answer.
  105. If you have a low traffic blog with a few images per post, you should be able to get decent shared hosting for a low price (I'd say around $5-$10.) As mentioned, your best bet is to find a host with SSD and utilize a good caching plugin. $14 isn't an exorbitant price to pay for quality WordPress hosting, but if it includes features that you don't really need now nor in the foreseeable future, you can get decent service for cheaper than that.
  106. you can usually get basic hosting for 3 USD a pretty decent plan for 7-10 USD 14 is on the higher end of the shared spectrum as i aside though depending on service level it might be a great deal
  107. You should look for a hosting based on litespeed and in your wp you should add LSCACHE module for caching. As far as i have tested this is the best solution for wordpress hosting without any headaches
  108. I have found there are a few things that really speed up a website. So I would just make sure you grab a host with some of the following things.
  109. 1. LiteSpeed like others have said. This is a night and day difference when it comes to loading speeds. It's unreal what this can do for a website.
  110. 2. LSCache - This goes hand and hand with the first one. When you combine this with their Wordpress plugin you can get crazy fast loading times.
  111. 3. I also like CLoudLinux. This basically makes you have you own resources. This good because having other higher traffic sites on the server will not slow down or effect your website at all.
  112. 4. SSDs. This is a given. Most of them have this now a days. But I would never host a site without them now a days. It is cheaper than ever to upgrade to these now and you can see more than a full second of speed increase from making sure your host has this.

  116. thanks!
  117. 1 more thing - it depends of your knowledge in web development. If you know how to install WP, transfer websites, update (or don't update any plugin), work with caching plugins, etc .... IMO Wordpress Hosting is marketing product.
  118. But if you don't have enough knowledge and time for your website maintenance - WP hosting is for you.
  119. P.s. There are a lot of good reviews about WPengine. IMO it's a little overprices hosting with a lot of limitations:
  120. 1. Can't install some plugins
  121. 2. No control panel - no file manager, etc
  122. 3. Can't transfer website yourself - only ftp access
  123. 4. Support is busy and sometimes response time >30 minutes

  130. I've never tried wpengine, but I can understand these limitations. You have given me some ideas: If I were truly managing someone else's wp site I wouldn't want them to be installing plugins willy-nilly or modifying files either. Hmmm
