  1. After years of watching Ariana Grande wear her waist-length hair in nothing but sky-high styles, we think it's fair to say that the singer and ponytails go together like ... peanut butter and jelly. Milk and cookies. Chips and dip. You get the idea. And that's totally fine. Far be it for us to stand in the way of the 24-year-old's style preferences.
  2. But it wasn't that long ago when Grande's famed pony was a mere afterthought to her striking red dye job. "I used to be in little girlie pinup-y phase when I had red hair," she recently told Allure during a press event for her new partnership with Reebok in Hong Kong. "I was really into the '50s. I think it was my way of making the red hair look less harsh and goth. I overcompensated and, was like, a toy. Now, I don't have to combat the hair thing anymore."
  3. With added length (we're talking at least a foot's worth of extensions), seamlessly swept up into a ponytail, there's not much for Grande to manage when it's up. It's after she takes down her long, signature style that maintenance comes into play. For her days off, the singer relies on a celeb favorite (and kitchen essential) to nourish her growing strands: coconut oil. "Coconut oil just goes with everything," she says.
  4. Another favorite treatment, perhaps to match her newly minted silver hue? Lavender essential oil. "I love putting lavender on my head," she says. Now, we're not out-right recommending you dose your head with the elixir for Grande-like length (although lavender does soothe scalp itch) — but she does have a valid point. It's been said that when (safely) used in moderation, lavender oil may promote hair growth.
