  1. STATIC IP VS DYNAMIC IP
  2. The opposite of a never-changing static IP address is an ever -changing
  3. dynamic IP address. A dynamic IP address is just a regular address like a
  4. static IP is, but it's not permanently tied to any particular device. Instead,
  5. they're used for a specific amount of time and then returned to an address
  6. pool so that other devices can use them.
  7. This is one reason that dynamic IP addresses are so useful. If an isp were
  8. to use static IP addresses for all of their customers, that would mean that
  9. there'd constantly be a limited supply of addresses for new customers.
  10. Dynamic addresses provide a way for IP addresses to be reused when
  11. they're not in use elsewhere, providing internet access for many more
  12. devices than what would otherwise be possible.
